Overview
The Supervisor of Counseling Services at Stellar Virtual will lead and support a team of Academic Counselors who provide virtual (K-8) students with comprehensive counseling services. This role focuses on fostering students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth through our “education with destination” model. This model helps students identify their unique qualities, align their skills and interests with high-wage, high-demand careers, and develop competencies to thrive in society. The Supervisor of Counseling Services will ensure that all counseling activities and experiences align with our mission and support college, career, and military readiness.
Essential Duties- Hold and maintain a valid current certification as a guidance counselor, meeting all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements, including those set forth by the No Child Left Behind Act.
- Ensure compliance with state testing procedures and prior testing experience.
- Provide targeted support and interventions for “at-risk” students, utilizing prior experience or formal training in this area.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform all tasks expected of a school-based counselor with proficiency and professionalism.
- Work collaboratively and courteously with parents, students, and staff, addressing concerns and providing guidance.
- Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings as needed to support student needs.
- Exhibit strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate school support operations.
- Conduct regular progress checks on student grades and academic performance.
- Respond to daily emails from parents and students promptly and professionally.
- Guide students and parents through questions related to benchmarks, TSIA2, TELPAS, and STAAR State testing.
- Foster a positive and caring school climate.
- Attend all required meetings and contribute actively.
- Deal sensitively and fairly with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Exercise sound judgment in decision-making, especially in challenging situations.
- Proctor in-person state test sites as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- At least five (5) years of successful School Counseling experience.
At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in an educational setting. - Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
- Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
- Experience using a student information system and other types of databases.
- Proficiency in PEIMS and LMS
- Good communication with strong team collaboration; efficient and independent work.
- Proactive and fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Certification Requirements
- A Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
- An active certification in School Counseling from the State of Texas.
