Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness Consultant
US Army Contract
Hybrid Work in the following locations: Washington, DC, Indianapolis, IN, San Antonio, TX, Sumter, SC
Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance.
@Orchard LLC has an immediate need for FIP/FIAR Consultants to support the U.S. Army’s Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness initiatives, which are focused on strengthening financial reporting, audit response, remediation, and sustainment efforts across Army organizations and service providers. These roles support targeted mission areas where the Army requires specialized financial expertise, specifically:
- Risk Management & Internal Controls – RMIC (San Antonio and Sumter).
- Fund Balance with Treasury & Intra-Government Transactions – FBwT & IGT (Indianapolis).
- Real Property – RP (DC, San Antonio, Sumter)
- General Equipment – GE (DC, San Antonio, Sumter)
We are looking for candidates at three levels: emerging/entry level, foundational, and intermediate financial expertise. You will join a team of consultants dedicated to improving the accuracy, reliability, and auditability of Army financial data while supporting mission-critical operations.
Your responsibilities as a FIP/FIAR Consultant.
- Support financial reporting, audit response, and remediation activities.
- Perform reconciliations, data validation, and financial analysis across assigned functional areas.
- Support accountability and reporting initiatives over a designated Targeted Mission Area.
- Analyze large financial datasets and leverage data tools to improve accuracy and timeliness
- Coordinate with government stakeholders to ensure deliverables align with Army priorities and audit requirements
The core skills you must possess
- Experience supporting Army or DoW FIAR initiatives
- Direct experience supporting financial accountability/auditability
- Ability to leverage data tools (e.g., SQL, Python, similar) in day-to-day work
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills

- Cert: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

- 7+ YOE in federal FM
- 3+ YOE in federal accounting
- 3+ YOE DoW Financial Reporting experience in a Targeted Mission Area.
- 2+ YOE in DoW consulting/contracting
Foundation Level

- Exposure to GFEBS
Compensation: These roles are perfect for mid-career professionals or career changers looking to leverage their current skills and to build a strong foundation for future progression. Base salary is based on qualifications and experience and is expected to be in the range of $50K - $54K for emerging level, $55K - $72.5K for foundational level, $73K - $92K for intermediate level.
