We are recruiting an Integrated Specialty Services Pharmacist to join our team of health care professionals. As an Integrated Specialty Services Pharmacist, you will be an integral part of a medical clinic care team, providing services to support patients initiating and continuing treatment with a specialty medication. The Integrated Specialty Services Pharmacist provides in‑clinic and remote services centered on expediting patient access to specialty medication treatments and ensuring safe and effective therapy. This position participates in optimizing treatment initiation, delivering patient education and counselling, as well as supporting the identification, prevention, and resolution of medication-related problems. The Integrated Specialty Services Pharmacist collaborates with other members of the medical clinic care team to ensure seamless delivery of patient care services. This role may supervise the activities of pharmacy support personnel, including but not limited to Integrated Specialty Pharmacy Navigators.



Job type: Full-time

Pay range: $125,300-$159,800 annually, depending on experience. Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range.

Position responsibilities:
  1. Establishes relationship as a clinic resource with patients initiating and continuing treatment with a specialty medication.
  2. Evaluates specialty pharmacy treatment selections against clinical guidelines and appropriate evidence-based literature.
  3. Conducts prospective reviews to ensure requirements are met for treatment initiation, coordinating follow-up as warranted.
  4. Performs drug utilization reviews and identifies treatment adjustments as necessary.
  5. Provides patient education and appropriate patient follow-up per clinic protocol.
  6. Evaluates referrals for accuracy, completeness, and clinical appropriateness.
  7. Provides direction to Integrated Specialty Pharmacy Navigators to expedite medication access and ensure treatment affordability and adherence.
  8. Provides in-person medication counseling and administration training.
  9. Actively utilizes integrated and routine communication with all healthcare professionals with an emphasis placed on monitoring and documentation of specific medication therapy outcomes.
  10. Identifies social determinants of health that could negatively impact therapy and coordinates with additional resources.
  11. Performs research and delivers information to support provider drug information requests.
  12. Adheres to all state, federal, and local laws pertaining to pharmacy practice, drug distribution, and patient information, as well as company policies and procedures.
  13. Maintains appropriate documentation in accordance with policies and procedures and as mandated by federal and state requirements.
  14. Obtains certifications and pharmacist licensure in additional states as requested to meet business needs.
  15. Maintains active pharmacist licenses. Informs supervisor within 1 business day (and Washington and Oregon Boards of Pharmacy within 10 days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status. Reports to Washington and Oregon Boards of Pharmacy within 15 days any changes to name, residence address, or mailing address, email, phone, or employment.
  16. Complies with the company’s Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company, employee, and customer information; attending work punctually and regularly; and adhering to good safety practices in all activities.
  17. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required skills:
  1. Education and experience
  1. Required:
      1. Degree from a college of pharmacy
      2. Active Washington Pharmacist license
      3. Active Oregon Pharmacist license, or ability to obtain Oregon Pharmacist license as soon as possible, no later than 6 months from hire date.
  2. Preferred:
      1. Minimum one year of specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
      2. Strong clinical knowledge of disease state and medication management pertinent to specialty clinic practice.
      3. Minimum two years experience in complex clinical patient management preferred.

    5. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computer applications and ability to learn new software platforms to perform accurate work.
    6. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
    7. Must be able to work independently and demonstrate sound judgement.
  2. Working conditions
    1. Work is performed primarily at a desk, with extensive keyboard and telephone work in a stationary position.
    2. Business needs may occasionally require work in excess of 40 hours per week, including work outside of standard work week.
  3. Contact with others:
    1. Externally communicates with patients, prescribers, healthcare professionals, insurance plans, manufacturers, and financial assistance programs.
    2. Internally communicates with Ardon employees across multiple departments.

  • Prior experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
  • Ability to navigate computer applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy benefit investigation, prior authorization support, and patient financial assistance connection.
  • Prior experience working with physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals.
