JOB SUMMARY

The Corporate Controller directs all aspects of the accounting and finance functions to include managing the consolidated financial close process, year-end financial audit, and monitoring cash flows to meet working capital needs. Ensures revenue and expenses are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Also ensures that projections for future revenue and expenses are properly forecasted providing a view toward year-to-date financial results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the accounting/finance team to include hiring, performance management, coaching and mentoring, goal setting, safety, etc.
  • Oversees accounting operations and finance functions to include accounts payables/receivable, journal entries, daily transaction posting, cash reports and forecast spreadsheets, fixed assets, general ledger, bank accounts, expense allocation, month-end and year-end closing, etc.
  • Creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting issues.
  • Identifies and implements procedures to make the close and reporting process more efficient and accurate.
  • Prepares and reviews monthly consolidated financial statements including follow up on open accounts receivable.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data, including analyzing and reporting variances to budget.
  • Calculates and forecasts revenue and expenses.
  • Monitors cash position and prepares cash flow statements, financial reports, etc.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Acts as primary contact for all audit and tax activity with outside firms and regulatory entities including, coordinating with tax accountants for income tax preparation and auditors for yearly audit of the company.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Expert knowledge of internal controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced understanding of federal and state tax and payroll requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with various computerized accounting systems.
  • Expert proficiency in MS Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Basic knowledge of ERP.
  • Ability to effectively manage a team including hiring, training, performance evaluation, feedback and coaching.
  • Ability to mentor and guide people to achieve personal and team goals.
  • Ability to build professional relationships across the organization.
  • Ability to attentively listen and effectively communicate in oral and written format.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with a variety of external groups including auditors, regulators, vendors, etc.
  • Ability to creatively analyze and solve complex problems, diligently asking probing questions and recommending solutions, with the ability to implement resolutions.
  • Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA certification preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in financial accounting with at least 5 years of experience managing an accounting/finance team.
  • Prior experience working in a professional office environment.
