An agency of the City of New York seeks an experienced Records Clerk for a part-time, temporary position expected to last three (3) months. The position is fully on-site in lower Manhattan, four to five days per week, starting between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and ending between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The hourly rate is $20 - $22.
Primary Duties:
The Records Clerk will organize and box files that are stored in the agency office, labeling them according to year closed and complaint number and is responsible for opening the files to remove the documents from the folder. Documents that are bound to the folder will have to be unattached from the folder itself. This may involve scanning documents and removing paper clips or staples. Additional duties include the following:

Organize and box records in standard cubic foot record cartons.

Label cubic foot record cartons according to year closed, complaint number, and a unique sequential number assigned to each carton.

Pack boxes for transportation in standard cubic-foot boxes, with boxes appropriately marked with records series title, range of records included in the box and a box number.

Coordinate pickup of boxes that will be securely transported by the vendor to its own facility for imaging.

Upon return of the physical documents, the Records Clerks will conduct a 100% verification of documents scanned and uploaded into an internal database system for accuracy. Documents unable to be verified will need to be scanned.
Requirements:

High school diploma and at least four (4) years of full-time experience in receiving, retrieving, distributing, or disposing of records, archival or library materials

Previous State Archives experience preferred

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of management and employees

Strong attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency
