A pioneering, cutting-edge biotechnology company seeks a Director, Business Development and Licensing to join its Corporate Legal department in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This is a newly created position with base compensation of $200-$240K plus 20%-30% bonus and equity participation of up to 75% of salary. A comprehensive benefits package is also included. The position is hybrid: two-three days onsite weekly.
Primary Duties:
The Director will provide legal advice with a focus on strategic and business development transactions. Additional duties include the following:

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide scope of global business agreements including high value, complex collaboration agreements, commercialization agreements, government agreements, joint development agreements, license agreements as well as legal correspondence across multiple affiliates

Provide strategic advice to upper management on commercial transactional matters as well as legal and business risk assessments

Assist with development, implementation and improvement of systems to support the contracting process such as coordinating high level group discussions to streamline process and ensure strategic stakeholders are engaged

Assist in due diligence exercises and other transaction support relevant matters

Manage and instruct outside legal counsel on complex contract drafting and negotiation
Requirements:

Admitted to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction

Seven to eight years of experience

Prior experience in a law firm and/or pharmaceutical company

Detailed knowledge of relevant business laws (company, competition and IP law) as well as experience in strategic and business development transactions, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating of contracts

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to read and speak German is a plus

Result-oriented way of working as well as the ability to analyze complex legal issues and problem-solving skills
