A progressive litigation law firm with a commitment to civil rights and public interest law is seeking a Director of Business Development for their New York City office.  The compensation is $250K - $350K dependent on experience. 

Primary Duties:

The Director of Business Development will work closely with firm leadership to execute the firm’s business development and marketing goals. This role drives the firm’s business development and marketing strategies from inception to implementation with clear communications with a variety of stakeholders. Additional duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Lead the firm’s marketing and business development function, developing and implementing effective firmwide marketing and business development strategies and best practices.

  • Oversee the legal ranking submission and award process (e.g., Chambers, The Legal 500, Benchmark Litigation); responses to RFPs; and pitches and presentations.

  • Proactively undertake research on existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and industry / market trends to develop best practices and aid in the development of BD plans, presentations, and proposals.

  • Plan and oversee the execution of client marketing events.

  • Seek out and provide support to attorneys for key speaking engagements and client presentations; identify thought-leadership opportunities; and analyze and track opportunities to increase effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with firm attorneys to identify and boost touchpoints with existing and prospective clients.

  • Develop business-development training for firm attorneys.

  • Responsible for internal and external communications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and experience in a successful business development role in a law firm required.
