Summary: The Production & Maintenance Technician performs fabrication, machinist, and welding duties. This position is responsible for using a variety of machines including manual mill, manual lathe, grinders, power tools, and saws to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts to support production, facility maintenance, and welding aluminum and steel assemblies by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
 
  • Studies layouts, sketches, or drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachment accessories and material on the machine such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings.
  • Uses welding equipment along with layouts, sketches, prints or other information to fabricate sub-assemblies or assemblies as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to the specifications by using precision measuring instruments.
  • Reports layout/print discrepancies to Engineering.
  • Utilizes bead blast equipment (or paint) when necessary for finish.
  • Utilizes belt sander to finish parts when necessary.
  • Alerts Engineering of the need of raw material due to low stock levels.
  • Performs mechanical repair and preventative maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Performs minor facility maintenance such as plumbing, mechanical repair, and painting.
  • Schedules appropriate contractors for repairs or building services.
  • Assures compliance with hazmat regulations.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures with special attention to safety regulations.
  • Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
  • Notifies Inventory Clerk/Production Engineer of low inventory levels of stock material.
  • Coordinates with Engineering to facilitate manufacture and reliability of components , sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer, Edge, Google, and Outlook.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills

Welding experience is a nice to have

Must be able to work in a fast paced production environment and able to change tasks frequently.

Must be able to read blue prints and layouts.

Manual mill and lathe are a must.

Good Aptitude is a must
