A progressive, cutting-edge biotechnology company seeks a Business Development and Licensing Director to join its Corporate Legal Department in Boston. Base compensation is $140-$150K plus bonus and comprehensive benefits.  

Primary Duties:

The successful Business Development and Licensing Director will support the development of next-generation therapies and vaccines by building and managing the Company's global patent preparation and prosecution. Additional duties include the following: 

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide scope of global business agreements including high value, complex collaboration agreements, commercialization agreements, government agreements, joint development agreements, license agreements as well as legal correspondence across multiple affiliates

  • Provide strategic advice to upper management on commercial transactional matters as well as legal and business risk assessments

  • Assist with development, implementation and improvement of systems to support the contracting process such as coordinating high level group discussion to streamline process and ensure strategic stakeholders are engaged

  • Assist in due diligence exercises and other transaction support relevant matters

  • Manage and instruct outside legal counsel on complex contract drafting and negotiation

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction

  • Prior experience in a law firm and/or pharmaceutical company

  • ­Detailed knowledge of relevant business laws (company, competition and IP law) as well as experience in strategic and business development transactions, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating of contracts

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to write and read German is a plus

  • Supportive interpersonal team player, talented at collaborating cross-functionally

  • ­Result-oriented way of working as well as the ability to analyze complex legal issues and problem-solving skills
