Facilities Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is currently seeking a positive goal-oriented Facilities Technician to join our team. This position reports to the Facilities Supervisor and is responsible for field repairs, troubleshooting, emergency repairs, assigned projects, and event set-up.   
 
Schedule will be five (3) days a week either 29.5 hours week.

A) Sunday – Tuesday 7:30 AM- 4:30 PM or 
B) Thursday – Saturday 7:30 AM- 5:30 PM
 
Do you have…
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in general repairs; carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting work? 
  • A high school diploma or equivalent?
  • A valid Florida Drivers License?
  • Flexibility schedule outside of typical working hours, with the ability and willingness to work occasional nights or weekends, as necessary?
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in apartment, building, or multi-unit maintenance.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment, including, forklift, skid steer, and backhoe.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Hearing ability to hear alarms on equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 75 lbs. without difficulty for short distances.
  • Ability to traverse zoo grounds on foot, work and operate a motorized vehicle. 
  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions including rain, heat, and cold.
  • Must be able to remain on feet for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to transverse zoo grounds and construction site on foot.
  • Must be able to withstand heat or coldness in buildings, attics or cooler units.
  • Must be able to sit, squat, bend, crawl, climb, jump and kneel for periods of time.

Required Skills

Preventative, routine and emergency repairs on all facility equipment including pumps, AC, water lines, electrical lines, etc. Carpentry work to include framing, replacement of fencing and other light carpentry duties.
