A global pharmaceutical company located in Northern NJ seeks an Associate Senior Counsel - Market Access. This position is hybrid and will require you to be on-site. The compensation package is $195K plus bonus and LTI. 

Primary Duties:

The Associate Senior Counsel - Market Access will report to an Associate General Counsel and be primarily responsible for providing counsel specific to the company's commercial teams relating to market access, reimbursement, customer contracting, trade relations, government price reporting, as well as other pharmaceutical regulatory counseling. Additional responsibilities are as follows:

  • Provide proactive and day-to-day advice on a variety of market access matters, including counseling on managed markets strategy as well as drafting and negotiating complex agreements with managed care entities (e.g., payors, group purchasing organizations, pharmacy benefit managers) and supply chain like wholesalers, distributors and pharmacies.
  • Counseling on manufacturer-sponsored patient assistance programs and other patient access programs (e.g., co-pay assistance, coupons, reimbursement support).
  • Ensure the Company's compliance with pharmaceutical laws including the Anti-Kickback Statute, government price reporting laws and regulations, False Claims Act, PhRMA Code and FDA regulatory guidelines.
  • Serves as the legal representative for market access materials on promotional review committees.
  • Proactively inform assigned business client of important legal, enforcement and other industry developments, including DOJ and OIG compliance guidance and enforcement activities.
  • Manage the legal and reputational risks of assigned business clients.
  • Help drive the implementation of legal strategy and policies.
  • Develop training content as needed on legal and other risks.


  • JD degree and 7+ years of legal practice including a minimum of 4 years focused on providing counsel to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Member in good standing of a state bar.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA regulatory and fraud and abuse law and/or pharmaceutical government price reporting laws.
  • Ability to learn quickly and operate in a fast paced, matrixed environment.
  • Able to participate on key teams and/or be involved in key projects.
  • Excellent level of oral and written communication skills, able to effectively present ideas, counsel and information to others.
