A premier financial services firm located in New York City seeks an Assistant General Counsel to join its collaborative and team-oriented environment. Compensation is competitive with an attractive benefit package.

Primary Duties

  • Oversee potential and pending litigation, investigations, and matters relating to client complaints and general corporate claims
  • Oversee and manage budgets for external counsel; provide risk/exposure analysis with respect to claims and interface with insurance carriers
  • Monitor the external regulatory and enforcement environment to identify trends and risks, and advise on applicable laws, regulations, and guidance
  • Develop policies, procedures, guidance, training materials and other interpretations of laws and regulations to ensure compliance with banking and other applicable laws working closely with legal and compliance colleagues and partnering effectively with business and operational teams
  • Draft, negotiate and review various types of legal agreements and regulatory documents
  • Advise and counsel colleagues in other functional areas on risk management and other matters


  • 5+ years working in a law firm or in-house in relevant areas; experience in private wealth management, banking, and trust business a plus
  • Prior litigation practice with significant client interaction; fiduciary litigation experience a plus
  • Experience managing external counsel and coordinating with insurance carriers
  • Member in good standing of appropriate state bar (New York desirable)
