Job Summary

The Workover Superintendent will be QB’s field support toward the Asset Retirement Program (ARO) and Workover Program (WO Program).  This person will be responsible for the execution of Piceance well WOs, P&A program; EHS and regulatory compliance for all operations, capital tracking, and project management.  This position will directly report to the Director of Production. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Execute QB Energy Piceance Basin WO Program. 
  • Execute QB Energy Piceance Basin ARO projects. 
  • Track field activities & estimated costs in Peloton WellView accurately and timely.   
  • Implementation of a fully QB controlled ARO as we turn from prior turnkey operations. 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and work with key stakeholders to implement changes to improve the program. 
  • Plan and coordinate ARO activities.  Prep sites for rig move, pre check well sites, and follow up cut and cap work.
  • Coordinate with engineering to prepare bids and review, assist in service supplier selections.
  • Hold quarterly vendor meetings aimed at setting expectations, reviewing performance, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Perform onsite reviews of rig and supervisor performance; identify processes and strategies to improve overall performance and cost structure of rig work.
  • Coordinate and ensure delivery of critical rental and downhole equipment for timely use.
  • Ensure compliance with and proper notification of all state and federal regulators. 
  • Review with engineering all procedures for safe and efficient worksite. 
  • Abide by all QB rules and policies. 

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Scrutinize, understand, and evaluate work products produced by third parties, including regulators. 
  • Collaborate with all company employees and contractors and with the local service companies. 
  • Provide leadership and identify opportunities to improve operations in terms of safety, integrity and efficiency. 
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including written timely reports of activity, as requested. 
  • Analyze various completion techniques from other basins and their suitability for adoption in the Piceance Basin. 
  • Monitor and analyze offset operator’s techniques, results, & performance.  
  • Continually improve our completions techniques and best practices.  

Supervisor Duties

·       Responsible for directing work performed by contract personnel as assigned on a well pad or project. 

·       Responsible for directing the work of on-site supervisors as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education:

  • An associated degree or technical skill preferred; not required for candidates with extensive relevant experience. 

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas operations. 
  • Solid background of various oilfield related occupations with increasing level of responsibility. 
  • Preferred:  Candidates with Piceance, Rockies, and other Under-Pressured Gas Basin experience.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Well workover techniques, cementing, downhole tools, ECMC rules and regulations understanding. 
  • Experience with Plug and Abandonment procedures & practices. 
  • Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment where technology and individual responsibility are emphasized.
  • Working knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite, and WellView 
  • Continuous improvement of mindset is a key to success for this position
  • Excellent communication skills: written and oral
  • Highly organized, resourceful and efficient self-starter, willing and able to manage and prioritize multiple activities simultaneously
  • Flexibility to travel and work long, irregular hours when required
  • Ability to think creatively in solving problems

Specialized knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite, and WellView 

Licenses/ Certifications:

  • Required: Current IADC Well Control certification. 
  • Valid Driver’s License with motor vehicle records acceptable by QB Energy’s insurance carrier

 

Compensation

The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $155,000 and $190,000 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed above.

Work Conditions

Location:

This position is in Parachute, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position that operates in a field environment. The role requires flexibility to work weekends, nights, holidays, and handle callouts as needed. Employees must be able to work and drive in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, snow, and rain. Overtime may occasionally be required, resulting in extended work shifts. Individuals must possess the physical ability to safely handle the tools necessary to perform their duties. This position is subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.

Physical Demands:

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
