@Orchard LLC is supporting a not-for-profit corporation that partners with public and private sectors to create high-quality, safe, and efficient delivery of health care and human services programs. Our client has multiple lines of business including population health, utilization review, managed care organization quality review, and quality assurance for programs serving individuals with developmental disabilities. Our client is also a national leader in fighting fraud, waste, and abuse for large organizations across the country.  In addition, our client operates a foundation providing grant opportunities to those with programs for under-served communities.

The Technical Writer/Editor completes technical writing tasks, document reviews, proofs, and edits that facilitate the successful design, development, and execution of high-quality electronic and written publications. Writes, edits, and proofreads contract deliverables of various sizes, scopes, and technical content consistently ensuring clarity, usability, and transparency for all involved stakeholders. Works as a member of the business development team to compose and edit professionally presented, well-written, competitive, and compliant proposals that support and align with enterprise objectives.


As a Technical Writer/Editor, you will:

  • Write and edit reports, information, educational materials, presentations, and other communications to provide consistent deliverables to the organization.
  • Edit and proof contract deliverables of various size, scope, and technical content to ensure clarity and usability for both technical and non-technical users.
  • Implement processes to ensure the proper citation of authoritative sources in written materials.
  • Edit content for accessibility, ensuring compliance with the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998.
  • Participate in peer reviews of project and organizational documentation, to ensure consistency with marketing standards.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge to work with technical staff to present technical information and analyses in a logical, understandable manner targeted for diverse audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to update and maintain the corporate style guide and standards in line with overall department branding standards.
  • Develop and research complex content for articles, press releases, newsletters, annual reports, and other internally generated publications, including e-media.
  • Work as a member of the business development team to compose and edit professionally presented, well-written, competitive, and compliant proposals.

 

Your background will include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (English or Journalism preferred) 
  • A strong background in researching, writing, and concisely integrating specialized information. 
  • At least 2-4 years (5-7 preferred) of proven writing, editing, and publishing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding compliance with the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998 is required.

 

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, review documents, or contract regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
