Automation Technician 1
Job Summary
An Automation Technician 1 is essential for installing, terminating, calibrating, programming, and maintaining measurement, well optimization and communication devices that provide real time information to operators, engineers, and management. The Automation Technician will work closely with field operations to prioritize daily activities and must do so while following all applicable safety protocols.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Maintain and repair equipment essential to well automation, water pumping systems, water injection facilities, communication sites, and pipeline automation.
· Monitor and troubleshoot Communication Errors using CygNet, Rocklink, etc.
· Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair field automation.
· Implement repairs on field automation equipment (RTU’s, Radio’s, Multi-Variable Sensors, Control Valves, Tank Gauge Systems, Pressure and Temperature Transmitters)
· Read and understand electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
· Effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision
· Assure that regulatory and environmental compliances are upheld.
· Maintain Automation Preventive Maintenance spreadsheet.
· Recognize Hazards and report such Hazards.
· Maintain JSA and LOTO paperwork as required.
Qualifications
Education
· High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Industry Experience
· Instrumentation and Control experience is preferred.
· 2-year experience in gas and oil operations
Skills & Abilities
· A good safety record as this is a safety sensitive position.
· Ability to work in a team environment, take directions from supervisors, keep required job schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules.
· Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
· Motivated and a Self-Starter. Take pride and responsibility for attention to details.
Licenses/ Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license with motor vehicle records acceptable by QB Energy’s insurance carrier.
Compensation
The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $32.00 - $36.50 per hour. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed above.
Automation Technician 2
Job Summary
Automation Technician 2 is essential for installing and maintaining measurement, well optimization, and communications that provide real time information to operators, engineers, and management. This role performs regular maintenance and repairs to minimize interruption of data for SCADA, Measurement, Production Accounting, Marketing, and Revenue.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision.
· Work in a team environment, take direction from supervisor, keep required job schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules.
· Maintain and repair equipment essential to well automation, water pumping systems, water injection facilities, communication sites, and pipeline automation.
· Monitor and troubleshoot Communication Errors using CygNet, Rocklink, PCCU, etc.
· Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair field automation
· Assure that regulatory and environmental compliances are upheld
· Maintain Automation Preventive Maintenance spreadsheet

Qualifications
Education:
· High school diploma or GED required
· Technical Degree or equivalent is preferred
Industry Experience
· Instrumentation and Control experience is a plus
· 5+ years’ experience in automation and/or electric installation and maintenance; or 7+ years of automated gas well operation.
Skills & Abilities:
· Ability to apply and follow all safety requirements
· Ability to implement repairs on field automation equipment (RTU’s, Radio’s, Multi-Variable Sensors, Control Valves, Tank Gauge Systems, Pressure and Temperature Transmitters)
· Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
Specialized knowledge:
· Fisher ROCs, Auto Pilots, Weatherford/KimRay, Ferguson/PCS, and Total Flow experience is preferred
· Familiar with MDS iNet-II, TransNet, 9810, and 9710X Radios
· PLC Ladder Logic experience is a plus
Licenses/ Certifications:
· Valid Driver’s License with motor vehicle records acceptable by QB Energy’s insurance carrier
Compensation
The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $35 and $41 per hour. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed above.
Automation Technician 3
Job Summary
Automation Technician 3 is essential for installing and maintaining measurement, well optimization, and communications that provide real time information to operators, engineers, and management. Since Automation is in harsh environments, it is critical to perform regular maintenance and repairs to minimize interruption of data for SCADA, Measurement, Production Accounting, Marketing, and Revenue.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision.
· Ability to work in a team environment, take directions from supervisors, keep required job schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules.
· Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
· Motivated and a Self-Starter. Take pride and responsibility for attention to details.
· Ability to train operators in the areas of EHS, maintenance, and well optimization.
· Maintaining and repair equipment essential to well automation, water pumping systems, water injection facilities, communication sites, and pipeline automation.
· Monitor and troubleshoot Communication Errors using CygNet, Rocklink, etc.
· Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair field automation
· Assure that regulatory and environmental compliances are upheld
· Maintain Automation Preventive Maintenance spreadsheet
· Ability to be available for an on-call schedule and overtime
· Ability to recognize Hazards and report such Hazards
· Maintain JSA and LOTO paperwork as required.
Qualifications
Education:
· High school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of O&G experience in electrical or instrumentation maintenance and repair required or
· Technical Degree in mechanical/electrical studies or related field or graduation from a trade school specializing in computer programming, IT, and automation; or combination of formal education.
Industry Experience
· Instrumentation and Control experience is a plus.
· 8+ years’ experience in automation and/or electric installation and maintenance; or 10+ years of automated gas well operation.

Work Conditions
Location:
This position is in Parachute, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position that operates in a field environment. The role requires flexibility to work weekends, nights, holidays, and handle callouts as needed. Employees must be able to work and drive in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, snow, and rain. Overtime may occasionally be required, resulting in extended work shifts. Individuals must possess the physical ability to safely handle the tools necessary to perform their duties. This position is subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.
Physical Demands:
In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
