The Opportunity
A Fortune 500 telecommunications company seeks a Sr. Category Manager for a long-term posoition based in Houston, TX; Canonsburg, PA; or Phoenix, AZ. The position is hybrid: work from home, Mondays and Friday; onsite, Tuesdays through Thursdays. The hourly rate is $55-$60 (some wiggle room), plus benefits and there is the potential for permanent conversion.
Primary Duties
The Sr. Category Manager will manage strategic sourcing and spend analysis for corporate services, including IT, consulting, and travel. This role is responsible for leading sourcing events, contract negotiations, vendor performance management, and ensuring optimal functionality of Coupa, the company’s spend management platform. The position includes training internal stakeholders, optimizing procurement tools, and driving continuous improvement in supply chain processes. Additional duties include the following:- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities using Coupa, including RFX events and bid analysis.
- Manage a diverse vendor portfolio and conduct quarterly business reviews.
- Administer contracts in collaboration with legal and business units.
- Optimize Coupa functionality and deliver training on its contract and RFX modules.
- Collaborate on system improvements with cross-functional teams.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement strategies.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in supply chain or IT support roles.
- SME-level Coupa experience required.
- Experience managing both direct and indirect spend, including software, hardware, consulting, and travel.
- Strong background in contract negotiation, vendor management, and analytics.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency in JDE and other procurement systems is preferred.
