Today, We Are Looking For
The Sr. Director, Workforce Connectivity will lead and oversee the execution of the "Connectivity Project," which aims to connect new and existing systems across education and employment to establish career pathways on a large scale. This initiative will empower students and workers in Houston to engage in pathways that lead to economic opportunity, starting from K–12 education, extending through postsecondary institutions, workforce credential providers, and into high-skill, high-growth careers. The ultimate goal is to integrate education and workforce development in a way that fosters economic mobility for every student and worker while supplying Houston businesses with the talent they need to grow and thrive.

The Senior Director will work closely with the SVP, Regional Workforce, to collaborate with leaders from K–12 education, community colleges, universities, nonprofits, government agencies, and employers. Together, they will envision the necessary systems to holistically connect education and workforce, identify existing systems that need to be integrated, and manage the engagement of a technical partner to build the required connectivity infrastructure.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing the strategy for system alignment, as well as facilitating the changes necessary to address a highly complex challenge that involves numerous stakeholders and moving parts across the talent supply chain.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are essential to job performance: ​​​​​​
  • Apply a strategic mindset to understand the problem at hand and develop a feasible solution.
  • Utilize human-centered design principles and experience to create the components of the system, keeping in mind that user adoption is critical for each stakeholder group.
  • Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders, including business leaders, government and public officials, nonprofit and community leaders, and education professionals (spanning K–12 and higher education).
  • Research and engage with the appropriate technology partners to conceptualize and build the required system.
  • Actively manage the project, applying sound project management methodologies.
  • Meet defined targets by monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed.
  • Communicate project progress to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the overall goals of the Regional Workforce Division, including revenue generation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements
  • While a bachelor’s degree is a plus, demonstrated experience, certifications, and relevant credentials will be given equal consideration.
Required Experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in technical consulting and/or digital product development
Physical Requirements
  • Good vision and hearing acuity (with adaptive aids if necessary).
  • Manual dexterity and skillful use of computer keyboard.
  • Physical exertion includes bending, pushing, standing, and walking.  Must be able to move or lift approximately 25 pounds on occasion.
Mental and Aptitude Requirements
  • Job requires the ability to hear, see, and talk; analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, planning and decision-making skills.
