@Orchard LLC, is a subcontractor to the VA, assisting with a variety of contract roles within the hospital system. We have an urgent need for two Board Certified General Oncology Physicians to support the VA’s Western New York Healthcare System, located in Buffalo, NY. The contracted duration initially is around 2 years.

About the role

The Oncology Physician will provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in an inpatient and outpatient clinic setting. The physician will evaluate, triage, and prioritize consults from primary care and other services for outpatient oncology consultations. The physician will obtain medical history, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients. The physician will coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other personnel in a multidisciplinary healthcare delivery system. The Physician will perform administrative tasks as assigned such as peer review and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations. The physician will provide oncology on-call services as assigned. The physician(s) care shall cover the range of oncology surgery services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards American Board of Internal Medicine Medical Oncology Board.

Education and certification requirements
  • Required: MD or DO or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Must be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.
  • Licensure: Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must be board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine Medical Oncology Board.
  • Must have a clear and active DEA
