@Orchard LLC is seeking a Program Support and Recreation Technician role for an upcoming opportunity with a Federal Agency that oversees public areas frequented by visitors to the region. The Technician is responsible for assisting in the routine customer service and visitor experience activities, site maintenance, and as needed biological and cultural resources management at the location, in support of their mission.

As a Program Support and Recreation Technician, your responsibilities will include:
  • Completing basic maintenance tasks associated with visitor infrastructure, including cleaning restrooms, sweeping floors, and setting up educational spaces.
  • Completing basic landscape maintenance tasks including trimming vegetation, mowing, planting, and general weeding.
  • Answering phone calls to the office and providing basic information about the Agency, and the facility, to include hours of operations, opportunities for visitation and recreation and basic resource information.
  • Developing educational materials, including worksheets, exhibits, signs and appropriate Social Media content creation.
  • Sharing education/interpretation about basic biological resources and natural ecosystems in interpretive programs.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position. The routine work schedule will be Tuesday - Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Your background will include the following:
  • Demonstrated strength in communication skills, both orally and in writing, in order to work effectively with peers, superiors, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and associated software packages including social media tools, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office suite. to develop outreach and interpretive materials including worksheets, signs, maps, brochures and other digital and print media (either education, 1 or more years’ experience, or portfolio of similar work).
  • Experience delivering interpretive and educational information to small or large groups in formal and/or informal settings.
  • Basic knowledge of, and ability to complete visitor service infrastructure maintenance, grounds keeping, and trail maintenance.
  • Must be able to pass government background check and obtain a federal government-issued personal identification card before being allowed unsupervised access to the facility.
