Job Description
This role supports and provides assistance to the EH&S Lead in the development and continuous improvement of a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors and visitors. 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of environmental, health and safety disciplines (e.g., industrial hygiene, ergonomics, occupational safety, and occupational health, waste/emissions control, energy conservation, sustainability)
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulation are appreciated, but not required,
  • Monitor and maintain compliance to all applicable Systems, EHS policies & procedures, as directed by the EH&S Lead.
  • Support the EH&S Lead in daily, weekly, monthly & annual regulatory requirements.
  • Support development of EH&S-related policies & procedures.
  • Able to conduct weekly safety walks of the labs for compliance with OSHA & MIOSHA regulations.
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation and on-boarding needs.
  • Conduct weekly, monthly inspections of eyewashes, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • Draft EH&S related employee notifications and communications as needed
  • Assist the EH&S and participate in all industrialization, transfer and new program development projects and activities as directed by the EH&S Lead.
  • Able to perform New/Modified EH&S equipment reviewed.
  • Review and authorize hazardous energy control (LOTO) and machine safety task specific procedures and requirements for plant equipment and machinery
  • Support development and implementation of global and site-specific EH&S initiatives, programs, and processes as directed by the EH&S Lead.
  • Participate and coordinate plant EH&S activities as determined and necessary for the continued maintenance of the ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 45001 certification.
  • Perform and document task and equipment specific hazard and risk assessments as necessary.
  • Participate with corporate EH&S in development and continuous improvement of ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications.

Years of Experience
2-5+ Years of Experience in EH&S

Degree Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Health & Safety or a closely related field.
  • Background in Environmental Regulations is helpful.

Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate EH&S requirements at different levels of the organization
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite of tools
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Ability to work with limited oversight
  • Working knowledge and associated audit experience in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is preferred, but not required
