Our client is looking for a Solutions Systems Engineer to join a team of engineers who are responsible for planning, implementation & execution of their unique platform installation. The Solutions Engineer will work side by side with Sales Engineering, Account teams, and the customer to ensure the lifecycle of the customer's engagement is executed from conception to final solution.
As the Solutions Engineer, you will- Work closely with customers and other stakeholders; understand customer’s needs and how we can best support their network architecture within the specs of the applications and environments
- Develop test plans for customer network architecture, and interoperability, ensure the functionality and security of equipment and determine efficient equipment configurations suitable for customers’ and stakeholders’ requirements.
- Prepare implementation plans based on the results of testing and provide expert engineering support in the deployment of the proposed improvements and modifications
- Ability to assist customer troubleshooting, installation, and implementation with dedicated servers and MCP itself, remotely or in a restricted secure environment, (Travel may be required on occasion)
- Provide weekly updates to varying internal and external contract team members. To include, PM’s/Engineers
- Ability to learn new technology, and apply and share applicable knowledge with customers, collaborators, and peers.
Your background will likely include- BS degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or similar technical field of study (Experience in related field in lieu of Degree)
- Subject Matter Expert in Linux
- Understanding Linux security (STIGs/CIS)
- Shell Scripting and PERL experience
- Knowledge of automation/DevOps tools
- Security+ or any equivalent DoD 8570 (IAT Level II or higher)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Team orientation, organized, and capable of independent work.
- Willingness to assist team members with other projects as needed and when required
- Join customer pre-sales calls and share knowledge or expertise.
- Top Secret Security Clearance is required (SCI preferred)
- Possible travel time up to 30%.
Preference:- Current or prior experience knowledge with the Ciena Product family.
- Project+ or Scrum Master Certification.
- Python, JSON, Ansible or Chef and Puppet
- Knowledge and experience with Layer-0, Layer-1, Layer-2
