Our client is looking for a Network Engineer to join their post-sales engineering services (Design and Consult) for North America-based customers. Activities include assisting with Consulting, Design, Audits, and Operations (DND, DCN, Photonic, Solution Acceptance, Layer 2/3 Engineering and Provisioning, Network Reconfiguration, and Migrations). Job position requirement is primarily day-shift based, with 2nd/3rd shifts involvement for engineering procedure execution and work implementation on live customer networks

As the Network Engineer, you will
  • Takes direction from the Senior Manager of Network Engineering.
  • Interfaces with the following functional groups on a day-to-day basis; Systems Engineers (SE), Deployment Project Managers (DPM), Technical Support, Field Service Engineers, Field Project Engineers, Service Partners, Product Line Management (PLM), Service Sales Management (SSM), Training and Documentation.
  • Develops network solutions based on Customer requirements including growth plans, capacity constraints, new features, technologies
    • Responsible for creating complex step-by-step engineering methods of procedure to migrate, reconfigure and modernize the entire customer's networks. Drive these changes remotely during off hours and weekends.
    • Responsible to deliver OSS, NMS, CES solutions, Complex DCN designs, Software customization framework, and development plans.
  • Stays abreast of new product engineering guidelines and keeps current with the latest technologies in order to deliver optimum network designs to the Customer.
  • Provides timely support to Customers for questions/issues. Communicates project status and escalates problems to the engineering team leader.
  • Performs assignments within schedule, with high quality, following established processes, Customer Specific Requirements, and Engineering guidelines.
  • Proactively pursues methods or solutions that will improve the Customer network and/or Engineering processes. Works to ensure Customer satisfaction.
  • Shares knowledge with the engineering team by mentoring individuals and holding internal training sessions. Ensures newfound knowledge is captured with the appropriate tool and process updates.
  • Tracks and reports performance against budget and ensures the generation of change orders where appropriate.
  • Leads Engineering team and serves as a single point of contact for network design/migration projects.
  • Receives project inputs from the SE and/or Customer and is responsible for validating and creating the Detailed Network Design (DND) that contains all the required settings and configurations needed to properly provision and turn up equipment.
  • Act as a key technical interface to the Customer, plans, and engineers, and supports network solutions/migration.
  • Leads the Turn-Up and Testing of various Product Lines in both Greenfield and In-Service Deployment environments.
  • Responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and debugging complex technical issues that occur during these activities.

Your background will likely include:
  • Knowledge and experience with Layer-0, Layer-1, Layer-2
  • BS degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or similar technical field of study (Experience in related field in lieu of Degree)
  • The candidate will have a diverse Telecommunications background, hands-on solid technical experience, and organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Current or Prior experience knowledge with Ciena Product Family is preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Team orientation, organized, and capable of independent work.
  • Willingness to assist team members with other projects as required.
  • Top Secret Clearance is required (TS/SCI Preferred)
  • Possible travel time up to 25%
