Contract Site Reliability Engineer
Remote anywhere within the US

@Orchard LLC has an immediate opening for a Site Reliability Engineer to work with our well-established solutions provider within the defense, intelligence, and critical infrastructure sector. The work is to be performed remotely for applicants located anywhere in the country. The initial period of performance is 6 Months with a potential for extension based on the business need. Owing to the nature of the work, we are only able to accept applicants who are able to obtain minimum federal clearance to work.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, build and maintain an infrastructure stack that allows the company to scale
  • Working closely with production and development teams to ensure that we ship software that meets security, availability, and performance requirements.
  • Codify our infrastructure with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
  • Make monitoring more proactive than reactive.
  • Automating work including infrastructure builds, testing, failover solutions, and failure mitigation.
  • Be part of an on-call rotation.
  • Debugging complex problems across an entire stack.
  • Writing, updating, and using documentation, including incident runbook/playbooks.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with DevOps tools (e.g. GitLab, Artifactory, Jenkins, Docker).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible).
  • Experience with application deployment in Docker Containers.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and other container orchestration tools.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including services such as VPC, EC2, IAM, S3, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • BA/BS Degree/Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
