Minimum Hourly Rate: $17.54/hour ($36,500 annually)

Position Summary: Perform duties to support Brevard’s foster children and families through advocacy, education, and guidance. Help increase the number of quality foster homes in Brevard and to retain and support those currently serving. Provide mentoring and peer support through lived experience.

Technical/Functional Expectations:

  1. Relationship Building - essential function: Foster positives working relationships throughout the System of Care.
  2. Engagement – essential function: Increase and improve foster parent engagement through education, support, and mentoring
  3. Peer to Peer Support – essential function:  Provide support to newly licensed foster parents through lived experience. Support, education, and guidance as families take new placements, assist to stabilize placement disruptions, or difficult placements.
  4. Foster Parent Advocacy – essential function: Train new families on navigating the dependency system, court hearings, participation in Multi-Disciplinary Meetings (MDT) and other child specific meetings. Train on dependency proceedings and MDT process.
  5. Recruitment and Retention – essential function:  Actively assist in the recruitment of new families through outreach, public presentations, panels. Support current families to ensure retention and stability for children.
  6. Mentoring and Training:  Co-lead the Foster Parent Mentoring program. Expand membership and replication through development of a curriculum and training program for new families.
  7. Foster Parent Advisory Council & Foster Parent Support Group Meetings – essential function:  participate, support, and provide input on the expansion, improvement, and areas of focus in meetings and councils.
  8. Continuous Quality Improvement – essential function:  Solicit Foster Parents feedback ongoing to improve service delivery and to increase retention through outreach, surveys, meetings, etc.
  9. Train – essential function:  Co- train PRIDE, CORE Teen & WELLE
  10. QPI – essential function:  Act as the QPI Champion for Brevard  
  11. Other duties as required: Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting, and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.

Business Experience:
  1. Three+ years of experience as licensed foster parents: This is required to have the skills necessary to meet the expectations of this role.
  2. Collaborative purposeful communication style: This is required to effectively work with a diverse public and internal and external stakeholders and to support the mission and vision of the organization.
  3. Excellent Customer Service Skills: Essential: This is required as this individual must work with a diverse group of staff and provide relief coverage to Suite A switch board.
  4. Valid Driver’s License: This is important to provide support and assistance to Care Coordinators at other sites as needed.
Educational and Experience Requirements:

1.       High School Diploma required.
2.       AA/AS - Associates Degree or equivalent preferred.
3.       3 to 5 years related experience required.
4.       Prior experience supporting executive level staff preferred.
