We are now accepting resume/applications for Asphalt Laborers for the Houma, LA and surrounding area.  Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:

  • Scope of Work:
    • Asphalt laborers assist in the pouring, smoothing and setting of asphalt on roads, pathways, and parking lots. The main role of the asphalt laborer is to look after the mat. This includes raking, sweeping, and lining out the road, as well as working alongside the tractor, mill, paver, and the screed.
  • Duration of Job: Temp to Hire
    • Based on Job Performance
  • Position Requirements:
    • MUST be able to pass drug screen
    • Ability to work on weekends, public holidays, and at night.
    • Ability to travel to wherever the job is needed.
    • MUST have reliable transportation
    • MUST be able to provide own PPE (Hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, & gloves)
  • Required Skills:
    • Punctuality
    • Knowledge of road & traffic regulations
    • Excellent communication and observation skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Offloading the truck and gathering tools for the day.
      • Transporting rakes, lutes, shovels, and spray cans to the paver.
    • Moving the pavement saw to the transverse joint.
    • Sweeping and cleaning the area in front of the paver.
    • Measuring and lining out the area for the day’s paving.
    • Working as a Flagger to direct motorists away from the work zone.
    • Transporting water to the rollers, power broom, and plate compactor.
    • Building a launchpad for the paver at the beginning of the pull.
    • Assisting the screed operator.
    • Shoveling material out to the end gate.
    • Transport merchandise between receiving stations, warehouse and production areas.
      • Lift and carry merchandises/material as needed.
      • Inspect merchandise upon delivery to identify any damages.
      • Load and unload merchandise to and from trailers.
    • Maintain industry vehicles and material handling equipment in safe and good working condition.
    • Drive industrial vehicles to transfer materials.
      • Operate manual material handling equipment such as hand jacks and wheeled carts safely.
    • Mange house keeping activities when requested.
      • Maintain the work area clean, safe and organized.
      • Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities
      • Cleanup work area and equipment after work is completed.
    • Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor in a timely manner.
    • Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards.
      • Practice safety procedures in accordance with training and guidelines when working.
      • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
      • Meet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standards
      • Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediately
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.
    • Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
      • Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
      • Ability to work in an environments with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
      • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock

  • Pay:
    • $15.00-$16.00/Hour
    • Weekly Pay
    • Pay Schedule: Monday - Sunday
  • Schedule:
    • Monday - Friday (Weekends as Needed)
      • 10-12 Hour Days (with weather permitting)
