@Orchard LLC has been retained by a Federal Contractor with more than 20-years of experience supporting missions for Federal agencies, with an emphasis on Systems Architecture, Cyber Security, and Advanced Computing. Our client has invested in the creation of an innovative Research & Development sister company and is seeking an experienced SDR Engineer to join a team developing truly ground-breaking technology in the field of internet and wireless security, levering totally new science and patented solutions.

As the SDR Engineer you will; 

  • Be seconded by our client to support their sister company as one of the first resources assigned to commercialize new security technology that has been 5-years in development, and will impact security for both Commercial and Federal Government clients. 
  • Work closely with the creators of the new technology solution to position its capabilities for optimal success within the market, with an initial emphasis on Federal/DOD interests. 
  • Utilize your deep understanding of development within an embedded LINUX environment, specifically the area of Network internals to develop production-ready solutions within an SDR platform. 
  • Produce and document high-quality and reliable code leveraging your knowledge of embedded LINUX environments, C##, XILINX, and ZYNQ within an SDR platform.
  • Work to include coding protocols, baseboard processing, and MAC for SDR-based products. Writing device drivers, interfaces to host devices, and helping develop effective UI’s.
  • Supporting programs employing modern software development and test approaches and methods to include, but not necessarily limited to, agile development, waterfall, prototyping, iterative and incremental development, spiral development, and rapid application development 
  • Supporting full software lifecycle projects, including requirements definition, design, software development, implementation, and test & verification as related to programs supporting the U.S. Government 
  • Developing software and algorithms, machine-learning algorithms, or artificial intelligence techniques and applying them to digital RF signal processing, RF engineering or spectrum theory, communication systems, electronic warfare, or SIGINT. 
  • Where necessary, work directly with clients to ensure effective and successful solution implementation.

Your background will likely include;

  • Demonstrated experience with embedded Unix/Linux programming environments and proficiency in multiple software languages, such as C/C++, Python, and Java, among others. 
  • Knowledge of common IDEs such as Eclipse and experience using industry-standard databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with SDR platforms, in  particular EPIQ, or GNUradio
  • Working knowledge and understanding of XILINX and ZYNC, FPGA, and ARM products. 
  • Knowledge of common messaging formats such as GPB, XML, and JSON and messaging brokers such as ActiveMQ 
  • Experience creating thick- and thin-client User Interfaces is a plus 
  • Familiarity with the development of U.S. Government statements of work, work breakdown structures, performance work plans, and related contract technical scope documents for software development efforts. 
  • Experience supporting software development efforts for U.S. Government clients and demonstrated performance as a developer within multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Sound problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills. Must have experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project). 
  • Must be able to work within a fast-paced start-up environment where priorities shift and require a high degree of adaptability, coupled with excellent organizational skills. To be able to work well in a highly talented team, to conceptualize and develop innovative solutions to complex software challenges. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and a willingness to participate in and lead multi-disciplinary lead teams of diverse professionals.
