@Orchard (formerly Talent Orchard) has been an opening to support our large Federal Systems Integration firm for a Contract Systems Engineer in Austin, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to support one of the largest defense contractors that have over $22.59 billion dollars in revenue and is a publicly traded company. The company works in a fast-paced environment with over 84, 000 employees worldwide. The initial contract duration will be 6 months potential extension beyond the said period.

Description:

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with extensive experience designing, securing, and maintaining Windows Server and VMware vSphere environments at an Enterprise scale to work for our client on a contract.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, implement, secure, and maintain Windows Server and VMware vSphere environments.
  • Responsible for multiple Windows Server technologies including Hyper-V, Remote Desktop Services (RDS), and Windows Failover Clustering.
  • Responsible for VMware vSphere infrastructure including Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI).
  • Ensure all compliance requirements and audit efforts are met.
  • PowerShell Scripting.
  • Interfacing with customers and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • A Minimum of 5 years of experience with Windows Server (Preferably 2012 and above).
  • A Minimum of 3 years of experience with VMware vSphere (Preferably 6.7 and above).
  • Exceptional analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex problems and propose practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in architecting and deploying infrastructure technology solutions in large-scale environments.
  • Strong experience with Windows Group Policy, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Remote Desktop Services and Windows Failover Clustering.
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience with IIS and certificate management.
  • Working knowledge of Dell PowerEdge Server.
  • Functional knowledge of core networking concepts including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancing, VLAN segmentation, etc.
  • Strong written communication skills; must be able to write clear, concise technical documentation.
  • Excellent time management, decision-making, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proactively seek to expand knowledge and skills through self-study and other training.
  • Experience with DFARS/NIST compliance controls and Splunk are a plus.
