General Responsibilities

The successful candidate will apply project management principles to specify, design, budget, propose, schedule, and implement routine to moderately complex environmental assessment and remediation projects for public and private sector clientele. You will collaborate with principals and technical experts to devise strategies for project implementation and client management. The Environmental Project Manager will apply increasing training, experience and proficiency in the application of technical practices and regulatory requirements in carrying out daily work assignments.  Assignments may involve preparation of proposals, project budgets, and invoices, logging and sampling of environmental and geotechnical soil borings, installation and sampling of groundwater monitor wells, use of field instrumentation, collection of soil, water, and vapor samples, data evaluation, risk assessment, writing and editing technical reports. The Environmental Project Manager will supervise and direct the work of field technicians, environmental scientists, and engineers. 

 

Functions and Duties

Manage existing client relationships, participate in sales and marketing efforts to expand clientele, may participate in the addition or development of complimentary services.

Prepares proposals and cost estimates, schedules, and scopes of work to meet client’s needs and expectations.

Evaluates data for trends and validity, prepares reports, diagrams, figures, and other supporting documentation for project deliverables.

Participates in training programs for career development and increased proficiency in safety, project management, field methods and standard practices.

Performs inspections, collects field data, and documents work.

Works around drill rigs, excavators or other heavy equipment in field during investigations and installation of groundwater and soil vapor monitoring wells.

Assigns projects and tasks to staff and field technicians.

Interacts with sub-contract services to obtain costs, schedules, and scope of services for inclusion in overall project implementation.

May monitor, oversee, and perform verification testing for the implementation of abatement work by independent contractors or sub-contractors.

Overnight and extended travel may be required with this position.

  

Skills/Abilities

Effective oral and written communications.

Competency using Microsoft Office products to generate documents.

Education/Experience

BS Degree or higher in environmental engineering, environmental science or other physical science.

At least 7 years’ experience in consulting work specific to environmental or engineering disciplines, to include Phase I and Phase II ESA, Underground Storage Tank characterization/remediation, remedial investigations of petroleum and hazardous substances, delivery of building science studies to include asbestos, lead, and indoor air quality, regulatory compliance and permitting activities, and risk assessments.  

 

Licenses and Registrations

A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Site Operations Training.

Asbestos and/or Lead certifications preferred but not required.

Professional engineering registration is preferred.
