About the role:

Working for our client as a Project Leader (Engagement Manager), you will both lead the tasks under your area and manage teams delivering excellence to your client. You will not have business development targets, but through the quality of your work-product, you will have the opportunity to develop lasting and deep client relationships that naturally lead to growth. You will serve the mission of clients within the Government sector, seeking to bring leading best-practice from industry to improve efficiency, delivery of services, and enhance the mission of the agency.

As a Project Leader you will;

  • Provide leadership to consulting engagements with 5-9 direct reports.
  • Develop high-level work-plans to deliver project results leveraging industry best practices to deliver the government client’s mission.
  • Provide work-stream leadership, direction & guidance, while identifying connections/synergies between work-streams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Motivate and inspire teams to deliver exceptional results in-line with the mission.
  • Manage client relationships, at a senior level – develop a “client for life” trusted relationship.
  • Nurture relationships within the agency, through the delivery of excellent solutions as opposed to active selling – let the work do the talking.
  • Take responsibility for the mentorship and development of a cohort of Analysts, Consultants, and Project Leaders.
  • Continue to develop personally and professionally: Have a hunger for continuous development.
  • Support proposal writing when not engaged in casework; facilitate detailed responses to government and private sector requests for proposals.
  • Project Leaders are NOT expected to sell new work – Project Leaders are expected to deliver high-quality work (which most often leads to more work)

Your background will look like this;

  • MBA (or relevant Master’s degree such as MPA, MPP, MPH, STEM, MD, JD, and Economics degrees).
  • 8+ years of professional consulting experience within a leading strategy or professional services firm focused upon commercial sectors. Some prior Government experience is preferable but not a requirement.
  • Our client values service and looks for talent with experience supporting the community, nation, and world, including programs such a Teach for America, Peace Corps, etc.
  • Specific experience: 2+ years of Strategy consulting experience for firms such as Boston Consulting Group, Bain, McKinsey, etc.
  • Demonstrated experiences supporting areas such as; Human-Centered Design, Supply Chain, Innovation, Change Management, Organization Design, or Healthcare would be a big plus.
  • Demonstrated visualization experience including Power BI, Tableau, Python would be strongly preferred.
