Working from your home-based office, you will support a territory encompassing the Mid-West Region.

This is an exceptional opportunity to both bring your current expertise and broaden your knowledge and responsibilities in a meaningful and valuable fashion. You will be joining a very well-funded organization, focused upon delivering effective and innovative pharmaceutical products to meet the unmet needs of the hospital and acute care sector, ranging across a number of therapeutic pathways.

If you are interested in joining a company doing good work in the area of acute hospital care, and you are both excited and motivated to work within an environment requiring adaptability and intelligence, then please review the full description listed here;

Our client’s current product portfolio supports healthcare providers and patients with a range of therapeutic options to treat serious infections, including those caused by drug-resistant pathogens. While antibiotics will remain a central component of our client’s focus, they plan to augment this novel and important portfolio with products that address critical needs in other acute therapeutic areas.

About the role;

The Medical Science Director, or MSD, is a key member of the Medical Affairs organization and will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for contributing to, and providing medical support for, the development and execution of medical strategy for our client’s portfolio. Through education and scientific exchange, the MSD will offer meaningful information around products to enhance the knowledge of healthcare providers (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs). The MSD will also identify and assist in overcoming perceived institutional barriers to our client’s products by developing and delivering clinical solutions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The MSD is also responsible for shaping deliverables for internal stakeholders, including customer insights and medical meeting reports.

As a Medical Science Director (MSD), are you ready to;

  • Effectively engage in scientific exchange with HCPs and KOLs regarding our client’s clinical data and health economic information?
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clinical decision-makers and other HCPs within leading acute care hospitals and other acute settings of care in the designated region?
  • Serve as the medical resource for KOLs and HCPs in assigned hospital accounts?
  • Lead HCP round table discussions and network with professional forums/organizations to discuss challenging clinical issues facing the medical community relevant to our client’s mission?
  • Develop content for non-promotional educational materials for Melinta products and relevant disease states in accordance with our client’s standards?
  • Respond to and document unsolicited requests for medical information regarding our client’s products?
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic publication plans?
  • Manage reports of adverse events and product complaints?
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to determine the best solutions to meet HCP needs in accordance with corporate compliance guidelines, which may include input on informational materials?
  • Provide internal clinical and scientific education to client employees?
  • Attend and contribute to major scientific and medical conferences?
  • Provide medical input into competitive intelligence activities and projects?
  • Manage personal expenses in compliance with firm policies and procedures consistent with local regulatory laws and guidance?

Your background will include the following;

  • M.D. or accredited doctorate degree in a life-science or basic-science discipline (i.e., Ph.D., Pharm.D.)
  • Post-doctoral residency or fellowship (Critical Care, Infectious Disease)
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, post-residency and/or fellowship training, with 2+ years of critical care clinical experience strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry with a focus on hospital-based products and acute therapeutic areas
  • Experience generating and/or disseminating clinical and health economics information to a variety of HCPs
  • Solid understanding of medical communication and scientific exchange compliance principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams with a commitment to cross-functional compliant collaboration and learning that facilitates informed decision-making
  • Maintain clinical and technical expertise through review of the scientific literature and attendance at key scientific meetings
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on commitments, to lead by example, and to enable others to effectively contribute.
  • A willingness to travel as required. The typical expectation of travel is 3-4 days per week, with some overnight travel where necessary owing to distance.

If you are excited by the opportunity to positively impact patient outcomes and health economics for clients within the hospital, acute care, and related ecosystem, and you meet or exceed the stated criteria, we need to hear from you. Please apply so that we can begin a conversation.
