What it means to be a Solutions Architect (SA) for our client’s Systems Integration Team;

Our client is looking for a Solutions Architect to join in establishing and growing a new services practice and is seeking Solutions Architects to be focused upon Systems Integration built around 5G, IoT, and in particular Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) from a Network Virtualization standpoint. Our client’s Global Services team is building a Systems Integration practice focused on Enterprise solutions including uCPE hardware, D-NFVI software, and best in class orchestration, third-party Virtual Network Functions (VNF’s), and other multi-vendor elements. The team focuses on emerging areas of network technology, such as; virtualization, infrastructure refresh, Multi-access Edge Compute (MEC), 5G, and Internet of Things (IoT).

You will drive multiple aspects of the practice including capability development (technology, tools, and processes), presales, solution development, and successful delivery of customer projects. Our client is in a startup mode and seeks adaptable and smart consultants who can provide innovation, customer focus, collaboration, value creation, and professionalism.

As the SA you can expect to;

  • Define and create best-in-class capabilities for solution design, implementation, validation, and support including solution life-cycle management and VNF on-boarding and validation.
  • Provide technical and commercially aware leadership to scope and design systems integration projects including architecture, project resourcing, and other elements of industrialized offerings along with well-defined client project specific statements of work (SoW).
  • Guide and influence technology partner and ecosystem relationships.
  • Lead teams of integration engineers, automation/test engineers, support engineers, and partners to deliver both technically and commercially successful client projects. Your technical project management and team leadership skills will be required.
  • Prepare project deliverables including presentations, solution descriptions, top-level designs, and other documentation.
  • Facilitate alignment among internal product teams, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide insights to optimize our strategy, tactics, and roadmaps.
  • Support business development by assisting colleagues and partners.
  • Create content and lead sessions on architecture design, implementation planning, and proof of concepts (PoCs). 
  • Share knowledge with colleagues including preparation of competency development plans and content.
  • Participate in industry forums and communities as required.  

Your background will include;

  • 10+ years of experience working in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) field with responsibilities in systems engineering, solution development, consulting, or systems integration delivery roles. Direct experience as a solutions architect or enterprise architect is preferred.    
  • Multiple organization experience is valuable: communications service provider, enterprise IT, systems integrator, or product vendor. 
  • Current experience within 5G, IoT, and in particular Multi-Access Edge Computing (5G MEC) from a Solutions Architect perspective. 
  • Deep technical knowledge and experience in cloud computing and network function virtualization:  orchestration (MANO), Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI), and enterprise Virtualized Network Functions (VNF).
  • Experience with enterprise VNF’s such as firewall, SBC, router, load-balancer, and SD-WAN is required.
  • Network Service Design experience. Use of network service descriptors (NSD) and Virtual Network Function Descriptors (VNFD). Day 0, Day 1, and Day N requirements.
  • NMS/EMS/OSS/BSS operations and service assurance knowledge are valuable. 
  • Certification in software tools for building and managing cloud computing platforms for public and private clouds, such as OpenStack, VMWare, Linux, and public clouds.  
  • VNF and NFVi testing methodologies and tools knowledge:  ONAP, OPNFV, ETSI NFV ISG, ONF, Ixia, Spirent, and automation.
  • Expertise in ethernet and IP networks is required: network design, routing protocols, L2/L3, MEF, and network security.
  • Understanding of DevOps and agile development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership along with corresponding work products such as white papers, presentations, published articles, blueprints.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Customer and partner-facing skills.
  • Ability to mentor and lead by influence and collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience. MS or MBA preferred.
  • The ability to travel approximately 25%, at times higher to support customers mostly within North America.
