@Orchard LLC, a boutique workforce solutions company, has been engaged by a strategic solutions firm serving customers in the US Government to assist in their search to identify highly skilled talent for a brand new contract award supporting the DoD. This work will be performed in Alexandria, VA.

The UI/UX Engineer will be responsible for Providing UI/UX development support and team leadership for design and build of an enterprise web portal environment; Army data and application/system assessment and prioritization (triage) for modernization and migration to the best environment, including Cloud Service Provider (CSP) or Army Enduring Data Center (AEDC); Application/Development full-service modernization and migration services for select Army applications; and, Programmatic and business process workshops, process diagramming/mapping, and associated systems services.

Responsibilities

Provide expertise and direction in the development and/or modification of computer-based scientific, technical, and business software systems. Uses expertise to design develop, code, test, and debug software. May work in one or several areas, such as equipment or software design, engineering evaluation or test, configuration management procedures, statistical analysis, and modeling. Works with users to define existing or new system scope and objectives. Provides analytical support and technical advice during the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases. Plans and schedules new application systems projects with user, systems software, and computer center operations personnel, including the identification of objectives, time frames, costs, and manpower requirements. Performs tasks necessary to ensure the identification and documentation of hazards within software systems using various analysis tools and techniques. Reviews and evaluates systems and software for adherence to the government or commercial directives, standards, guidelines, and criteria concerning software safety and systems safety. Confirms design mitigations are captured in the design and its documentation and verifies implementation. May perform as a project lead with the responsibility for the instruction, assigning, direction, and monitoring of the performance of assigned systems developers/analysts working on a specific project. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.

This position is focused on team leadership and UI/UX design for an enterprise web portal. A successful candidate will:

-          Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user-friendliness to complex design roadblocks

-          Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders

-          Able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces

-          Collaborate to execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering

-          Participate in usability reviews and lead improvements in front end design, including conducting user research and evaluating user feedback

-          Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an experienced designer, developer, deployer, tester, and evaluator of software applications. Has developed and maintained manuals, drawings, and/or system specifications. Skilled in multiple programming languages and knowledgeable in Agile development approaches.

• Candidate must hold an active Secret level clearance 
• Edu/Exp: HS +11-14 Years, BA/BA 5-10 Years, or MA/MS +3-6 Years.
• Requires DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
