Senior Cost Accountant

BYD in Lancaster CA seeks a qualified Senior Cost Accountant.

Job brief:

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Accounting department and the Controller to fulfill the following duties and deliver on key processes including but not limited to:           

Costing:

·         Accurately track, record, report, and perform review and analysis on bus and truck work order costs inclusive of direct materials, direct labor, and factory overhead allocations.

·         Proactively assume ownership of assigned work orders to ensure job costing is accurate from work order inception through work in process inventory and until final movement to finished goods is completed and the work order closed.

·         Work in close coordination with the Warehouse, Purchasing, and Material Control departments to ensure bus and truck work order costs accurately capture materials purchased and received for specific projects and related bus and truck work orders.

·         Work cross functionally with other factory support and general and administrative departments including but not limited to Production, Quality, Engineering, Production Planning, and Customer Service, to obtain a complete understanding of how the manufacturing process life cycle ultimately impacts bus and truck costs.

·         Support the monthly accounting G/L close process in close coordination with the Controller, the larger Accounting department, and the corporate office in Los Angeles.

·         Respond to requests from corporate around work order costing and support internal and external audits.

Inventory:

·         Perform monthly review, analysis, and reconciliation of inventory accounts including raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory balances.

·         Support and participate in monthly and quarterly inventory counts in close coordination with the Warehouse staff.  Perform required adjustments as a result of counts.

·         Respond to requests from corporate around raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory balances, and support year-end and other external audits.

Other:

·         Assist the Controller with ad-hoc reporting, special projects, and other plant operational responsibilities.

Requirements:

·         2 to 4 years of experience as a cost accountant.

·         Highly motivated and able to grow with the department and the company.

·         Candidate must be able to work independently as well as in teams.

·         Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task.

·         Strong work ethic and a can do attitude.

·         Candidate must be able to collaborate and work cross-functionally.

·         Must work well in a fast paced office environment.

·         Bi-lingual English & Mandarin preferred.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, and/or Economics required.

·         CPA and/or MBA preferred.

·         SAP experience preferred.
