We're recruiting for an Account Director for the sales and services department of an advertising agency as a full-time job in Portland, Oregon.

The Account Director role requires passion for why we do what we do, a comfort with risk and an understanding of the dynamics that play into sound decision-making. This highly motivated team member must have the ability to inspire the people around them and a drive to accomplish the goals set forth by the organization. 

This role is responsible for overseeing the sales and servicing departments within the organization. This includes developing strategies to meet business goals, managing and working along side a team built to deliver on those plans and cultivating and nurturing the client relationships valuable to the organization. 

The new team member should be a seasoned sales person, comfortable developing new business and working with teams to vet and pitch new opportunities. The right candidate should also be driven to bring the best out of their team, fostering individual team growth and help to elevate the overall performance of the group. This includes developing tactics to execute on agreed strategies and proactively measure results in real time to allow for adjustments. 

Account Director Responsibilities:

  • Consistently provide the maximum level of leadership and service to team members, clients and business partners - this includes availability and adaptability, partnering in short-term and long-range planning, and proactive communication.
  • Develop, pitch, cultivate, transition and in some cases manage clients.
  • Write and review scopes of work, creative briefs, estimates and project quotes to clearly outline objectives, process, deliverables and project profitability.
  • Work with internal teams and departments to ensure client expectations are exceeded and internal processes and margins are managed. 
  • Create and implement programs/tools to support sales and account teams to effectively build their businesses.
  • Lead key sales efforts with targeted prospects. 
  • Develop projections and play a leadership role in marketing and sales focused off-sites and meetings.
  • Achieve annual sales goals provided at the onset of each year.
  • Work with department directors to establish best practices, build camaraderie and implement efficient processes.
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset, challenge assumptions and supporting team decisions.
  • Travel as necessary to support business, project and client needs.
  • Practice open communication both internally and externally.
  • Illustrate fierce dedication to the teams and clients.

Account Director Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years Account Manager / Director level experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, business, marketing, advertising, communication or other related field required
  • Demonstrate the ability to function independently as well as in a team setting, must be a self-starter and motivator of others
  • Highly-organized and strong attention to detail
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and be a strategic thinker
  • Goal-focused, results-oriented and budget conscious
  • Excellent time management skills, as well as the ability to effectively establish priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment
