Position Overview:

The Cambridge Network online and onsite tutoring program is designed for students on all points of the academic ability spectrum. Our tutors assist international middle and high school students from China, Korea, and Vietnam with standard school subjects including Honors and AP courses, acquisition and mastery of English, college application and study skills. This is a 1099 contracted position.

Tutoring positions include:

  • English (English literature, academic reading, writing and composition, etc)
  • Social Sciences (US history, world history, European history, government and politics, geography, psychology, sociology, economics, study skills, business, etc)
  • Science (physical science, chemistry, physics, biology, anatomy, physiology, geology, computers and computer sciences, etc)
  • Mathematics (pre-algebra, algebra, algebra II, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, statistics, etc),
  • Religious studies (Catholicism, Christianity, and World Religions, etc)
  • World Languages (Latin, Spanish, French, German, etc)
  • College admissions and guidance
  • ESL (English as a Second Language)

Responsibilities:

  • Create one-on-one or small group curricula for courses
  • Assess specific vocabulary needs and English proficiency in order to select level-appropriate materials
  • Assess the academic needs of the student across their school coursework, assist with homework and projects, and review corrected work with the student in order to ensure advanced comprehension of school materials and prepare the student for any upcoming teaching content, tests, or quizzes
  • Conduct one-on-one or small group classes online utilizing the Zoom platform or onsite in a public place or at the student’s home
  • Make full academic year commitment
  • Track and analyze student progress, complete progress reports, and communicate with Tutoring Coordinator about student progress

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a specific subject area from a prestigious college or university
  • Established high-level proficiency in subject matter
  • Familiar with American middle and high school curricula
  • Must be caring and committed to the success of students
  • Sensitive to cultural difference and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Pass a background check
  • Eligible to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Possession of a valid teacher certification/license
  • Currently teaching in an American middle or high school OR 2+ years’ experience teaching in an American or English language international middle or high school
  • ESL teaching experience or TESOL/TEFL certification
  • Experience teaching utilizing online tutoring platforms
  • Academically bilingual in Mandarin, Korean, or Vietnamese
