The Sanitation Manager is responsible for the implantation and execution of the sanitation system at the production level by ensuring compliance to sanitation policies. Responsible to lead development and oversee implementation of sanitation policies and program required to comply with appropriate state and federal regulations. Provides technical expertise to the organization in sanitation, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action. Enables effective execution of sanitation programs at the manufacturing sites. Defines key performance indicators (KPIs), monitors progress, trains/mentors/coaches and provides guidance to floor personnel. Acts as liaison between floor production and brewery leadership in technical teams to provide training and support to address sanitation, pest control and infrastructure and equipment hygienic design challenges. The position identifies resource needs and provides necessary training to efficiently and effectively execute their sanitation responsibilities. This position leads continuous improvement of sanitation programs to deliver best in class performance in food safety, and yield loss while optimizing costs. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems impacted by the sanitation team to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

  • Provide technical expertise in design reviews on production projects, identification of capital needs and keep abreast on new technology.

  • Inspects plant, equipment and parts for cleanliness and proper sanitation.

  • Develop and effectively communicate sanitation policies, standards, and procedures to enable sustainable implementation of these programs.

  • Conduct validation to ensure sanitation programs are sustainable and compliant with applicable regulations.

  • Establish and monitor key sanitation metrics to identify and react to emerging issues

  • Interface with General Manager, QA/QC Department and Vice President of Product to develop and deliver sanitation program training, resource materials and job aids.

  • Work alongside QA department, R&D, and manufacturing facilities in the areas of sanitation, pathogen/environmental control, integrated pest control, new equipment design, installation or construction and other food safety or quality initiatives related to sanitation processes.

  • Support production in conducting risk assessments and developing sustainable corrective actions

  • Support production and maintenance personnel in addressing sanitary design issues and in risk-based prioritization of capital projects related to sanitation and food safety.

  • Develop and conduct sanitation audits/assessments at Company production floor and Co-mans to identify areas for sanitation program and practice continuous improvement.

  • Leverage sanitation vendors and other internal and external expertise to implement effective sanitation programs, including but not limited to, design and testing of new/improved sanitation methods, best practice sharing between plants, and identification of operational savings opportunities.

  • Communicate and escalate any safety, food safety, and quality or vendor issues and actively participate in achieving resolution as necessary.

  • Develop, implement, and manage recycle, landfill, and water reduction sustainability programs in cooperation with operations maintenance, and engineering team

  • On-boards new production sanitation workers; leads training, mentors and coaches others in area of expertise.

Education/Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent form two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before group of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense underst6anding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing; Spreadsheets; Inventory; Internet Software; E-mail; and Project Management software.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and direct the work of Facilities Department.
