(Communications)
Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated. The job description herein provides for the range of duties to be performed for this position. It is not intended to reflect all duties that are required within this position.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Offer hands-on experience in a fast-paced work environment under direction from experienced professionals, performing tasks such as:
- Planning, writing and editing copy for publication including news releases, brochures, booklets, digital and disseminating information through appropriate channels
- Graphic design for print and web
- Perform media relations duties, including fielding questions from the media
- Write, design and post social media and website content
- Digital and video photography
- Possibly take the lead on a project through completion
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current enrollment at an accredited four (4) year college and must have completed their sophomore year of college studying communications, journalism, public relations or marketing
- Must have knowledge of AP Style news writing, grammar, punctuation, spelling and basic mathematics
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Must have intermediate level skill using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, with some previous use of Illustrator
- Must be 18 years of age by hire date
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver’s license at the time of employment, and pass a background screening

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
Location: Bartow, FL
Work Schedule: 20 hour Work Schedule, Mostly Mornings
(Flexible schedule when evening/weekend assignments required)
Rate of Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
