Our Swiss client, a leading worldwide supplier of high performance optical sensor solutions is in search of a:
STOP Analysis EngineerTasks & Responsibilities:
- Main task for the position is to contribute towards activities within a worldwide end-to-end product development team focused on successfully developing, prototyping, and producing advanced optoelectronic components (optics + electronics + package). The position involves the unification of Optical and Physical Modeling and Simulation to ensure robust Structural-Thermal-Optical-Performance (STOP)
- Work within a worldwide multidisciplinary development team to provide software solutions integrating both optical and mechanical/physical modeling to enable robust optical designs and failure analysis – so-called “STOP” analysis
- Working together with Company Physics Modelling Group
- Define simulation approaches and select appropriate physical models and workflows
- Carry out optical modeling combined with physical modeling of the elements under different physical conditions to obtain optical system performance and verification.
- Generate resulting product analysis documentation including opto-mechanical design specifications, and design performance reports
- Perform engineering product verification to ensure compliance to requirements
- Cooperate with Project Leaders to assure design to be compliant with mechanical and manufacturing ground-rules
- Work well with diverse geographical team
Education & Experiences:
- Relevant engineering degree in optics, physics or related scientific or Engineering discipline
- 2+ years’ experience in optical design and/or physics simulation, preferably industrial but academic will be considered
- Very preferably design experience using Structural-Thermal-Optical-Performance (STOP) analysis
- Knowledge in optical and micro-optics technologies and materials also an advantage
- Hands-on experience in optical, thermal and structural measurement
- Ability to travel worldwide
- Fluent in English, German is a plus
- Optical: Zemax, LightTools, other tools such as CODE V, TRACEPRO, FRED, and VirtualLab are a plus
- Physics: Comsol or related tools
- Scientific: Matlab. Python is a plus
- Data processing and statistical analysis: JMP, R, Matlab
- Required Skills

Engineering degree in optics, physics or related
2+ yrs’ experience in optical design and/or physics simulation
Design experience using Structural-Thermal-Optical-Performance (STOP) analysis
Exp. optical, thermal and structural measurement
Ability to travel worldwide
Optical: Zemax, LightTools
Scientific: Matlab.
Data processing and statistical analysis: JMP, R, Matlab
Fluent in English
EU citizen / Swiss work permit holder
