Our Swiss client, a leading worldwide supplier of high performance optical sensor solutions is in search of a:
Sales Support and Project ManagerDescription: The focus of this role is on the management of technical support for new sales opportunities, combined with the management of those opportunities that become development projects. The emphasis is on development of leading-edge, complex optical solutions, with a focus on optical element development and integration. We are looking for candidates with strong technical skills and understanding in the fields of optics, electronics and module integration both in terms of design and manufacture.
Role & Responsibilities:
Working for the Manager of Optics Projects, the Sales Support and Project Manager will be expected to carry out the following duties:
- Gather and collate all necessary new optical product opportunity documentation from each company Business Line e.g. specifications, cost targets and production forecast
- Work directly with the division's internal Engineering to assess the feasibility of each opportunity, and provide clear, well documented feedback
- Provide initial planning and costing of the potential projects
- According to progress, plan the complete Engineering portion of the development, present and explain the planning across all involved Business Lines o Work directly with the company's Asia Engineering and manufacturing, as well as external partners, for the realization of optical elements and module products
- Manage the optics project activities for the approved projects, regularly report progress, costs and changes to the involved Business Lines
- Maintain all necessary project documentation for the Product Development Process
Background & Skills:
- Strong, broad technical understanding of optics and related manufacturing
- Excellent organizational skills, and ability to create new tools “on the fly” to improve efficiency
- Skills in MS Project, Powerpoint, Word etc.
- Good presentation skills
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- German knowledge an advantage
Education/experience:
- BSc or higher education in an Engineering or Science discipline required
- Education in optics a major advantage, but not a requirement
- Solid industry experience (at least 5 years) in optical product develop, opto-electronics or similar discipline a major advantage
- Previous experience in Project Management for Product Development required

- Excellent interpersonal skills for clear, concise communication between the Business Lines and Divisions
- Confidence and authority in the area of optical technology
- Agility in a fast-moving development environment
- A strong personality to be able to both challenge and motivate the division's development teams
- Resilience in the face of challenges
- Out-of-the-box approach to problem solving
- Ability to simplify seemingly complex problems, get to the point quickly and formulate actions to resolve practically
