Design Project Specialist



The Design Project Specialist is responsible for designing, preparing, and establishing project plans for new and renovation construction projects of multifamily assets in addition to providing quality assurance for all existing properties in line with WWC’s WOW Factor guidelines. The Design Project Specialist will collaborate with corporate and property management teams and manage to completion a wide variety of design and renovation projects to meet asset goals and objectives.



The position is a full-time, regular, non-exempt position.



The position reports directly to the Operations & Transitions Manager.



·         Uses creative and visionary skills to create and implement design concepts and manage all design phases.

·         Uses organizational, collaboration, and broad relationship skills to manage cross-functional teams and coordinate all aspects of design and construction projects.

·         Coordinates multiple projects simultaneously and prepares progress reports for all projects on daily/weekly basis and manages all communication between the team, vendors, and contractors.

·         Develops design concepts to include naming conventions, logo, signage, landscape, exterior paint renderings and prepare and present design layouts and sketches.

·         Coordinates and manages the design progress, vendors, and schedules against deadlines and budget and reviews and negotiates design change orders with management and vendors.

·         Coordinates and controls design submittals and change orders for review and approval.

·         Facilitates resolving design issues with vendors.

·         Manages procurement and inventory of selected materials using a tracking system.

·         Inspects all construction projects to ensure appropriate quality control and all projects and work is permitted correctly.

·         Understands and adheres to all municipal building codes and acquires correct permits for the duration and extent of each project.

·         Coordinates with material and supply chain management personnel and evaluates bids and contracts for various projects.

·         Participates in various project meetings and maintains records of all construction dates and project costs, and communications.

·         Identifies cost reduction options while maintaining quality and productivity.

·         Assists managers on special research and technical projects.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

·         Bachelor's degree or equivalent in graphic or interior design or related field; three years of relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Multifamily design and construction experience preferred with knowledge of renovation projects, project costs, contracts, and design processes, including color and materials selection, furniture systems, and FF&E.

·         Intermediate to advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), AutoCAD, Sketchup, or other comparable computer applications.

·         Previous experience working in a design project environment preferred.
