Description

Summary: Liberty IT Solutions is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our sustainment team responsible for the applications on our cloud platform.  This person will be utilized to help address issues, improve performance, maintain intended capability, and keep stakeholders informed of progress.  We need a creative engineer with the flexibility to transition between applications based on the needs of the day.  This role will require a demonstrated understanding of various architectures, the deployment process, code implementation, and various needs of each specific application.  The supported applications are primarily in Java, but some are written in Mule.  The individual will help ensure that all applications are maintained, receive necessary updates as well as necessary enhancements.

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a technical discipline

Required Years of Experience: 3 years beyond degree or 5 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

Responsibilities: 

  • Understand architecture and purpose of every application in production
  • Address issues, improve performance, maintain capability of each application
  • Investigate root causes and provide corrective actions
  • Be able to address some issues as a software engineer directly and other issues as the technical liaison coordinating efforts of other engineers to address the issue
  • Work with the Product Owner to ensure appropriate resource are utilized efficiently
  • Learn and then train other engineers as appropriate to maintain all applications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven work experience as a developer
  • Excellent knowledge of software development processes
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing
  • Excellent knowledge and experience working with the following languages and technologies: Java, JavaScript, Java Beans, JSP, JMS, J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, CSS, DHTML, HTML, XML
  • Excellent knowledge of architecture styles/APIs (SOAP, REST, RPC)
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills
  • An ability to understand front-end users’ requirements and a problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • VA or other Federal Government experience
  • CMMI Maturity Level 3, ISO 9001:2015 or 9001:2001, and ITIL experience a plus
  • Has high standards, results oriented, and a commitment to delivering high quality software on time
  • Familiarity with Mule
