Our client is a community resource center that connects people to services and services to people through Accompaniment. Founded in 2008 and registered as a 501c3 nonprofit in 2010, the unique mission of Accompaniment is a nuanced version of case management developed in response to the needs of the Little Village community where the organization was founded. Many in their community find it difficult to access services due to fear, language barriers, immigration status, poverty, and/or lack of knowledge of available resources and how to navigate social systems in the United States. Rather than duplicate existing services, our client seeks to collaborate with other agencies to make social services more accessible to a population in need. They offer referrals to other services, off-site accompaniment via public transportation, emotional support, and advocacy. As a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph mission network, the organization shares in the mission of the sisters and works to build more connected communities.

Our client is seeking a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Case Worker to utilize their empathy, experience, and talents to successfully perform the following responsibilities:
  • Meet with clients, listen to their stories, and determine services needed, providing resources, referrals, and support to clients
  • Accompany clients offsite to courthouses, clinics, and other agencies, as needed
  • Connect with and research social service agencies, schools, parishes, etc.
  • Present at various events to promote the mission and ministry of the organization
  • Maintain client files in accordance with the Organization’s processes and protocols
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Perform other such duties as directed by the Executive Director

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English
  • Ability to identify clients’ situations/problems and link with agencies
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and deadlines
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with a diverse staff, clients, and community partners
  • Ability to organize and keep confidentiality
  • Ability to physically accompany clients on public transportation to various locations
  • Mandated Reporter Training (will be provided)
  • Virtus Training (will be provided)
  • Completion of additional Archdiocese of Chicago compliance and safety requirements (will be provided)

Education and Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in social services preferred
  • Associates degree or higher preferred
Working Conditions:
  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:30am-5pm
  • Tuesdays: 10:30am-7pm
  • Occasional nights and weekends will be required
