Position Overview

The scope of the role for the VP-Product is to lead the Product team and advance them within the new agile development environment while helping continue to evolve our agile practices overall.  The Product Managers are the primary interface of the development teams to the product management organization and ensure the teams actively interact with key stakeholders from other desciplines during the development process.  The VP-Product is responsible for ensuring the MVP (Minimal Viable Product) is well understood by the development teams and delivered in alignment with the strategy and roadmap defined in cooperation with the Product Management team, while making sure customers are engaged at all stages of design and development to ensure there is continuous validation and feedback with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Lead Product team and own overall responsibility for customer engagement
  • Understand the overall customer’s goals and any obstacles that come in the way of accomplishing those goals
  • Focus on building the right products and features that optimizes business value and customer satisfaction
  • Focus on customer problems as opposed to features requested by them
  • Facilitate and actively participate in customer demos
  • Facilitate customer surveys to better understand problems and goals
  • Effectively manage customer feedback and refine the backlog to reflect recent learnings
  • Actively participate in customer visits to understand strengths and weaknesess
  • Play an active part beta releases and engage with the customers to solicit feedback
  • Contribute to the strategic vision and roadmap of the product
  • Proactively work with the Executive team, Sales, Operations and the Product team to ensure alignment with the Product Roadmap
  • Prioritize the Roadmap and any new requests or priority changes and communicate to the Product team
  • Articulate the reasoning behind various decisions to the team and other stake holders
  • Build expertise in the solution areas/market spaces our products compete within
  • Ensure that any new epics that are assigned to the team are completely defined by the Product Manager, including PM artifacts and the customer list
  • Ensure readiness at the organization level in general and at the team level in particular
  • Lead team in creating the Readout
  • Ensure that the Readout is customer driven and aligns with product roadmap
  • Review the Readout with the leadership team and other stakeholders
  • Keep the Readout up to date throughout the quarter
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience required
  • 8+ years proven working experience in Product Management, Product Manager roles, or Project Management roles
  • Strong experience with Agile methodologies required including experience of being a Product Manager and building/leadings teams of Product Owners
  • Proven experience in gathering, analyzing, and prioritizing market opportunity and relevant requirements to differentiate in market
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate among cross-functional teams in a multinational environment
  • Strong experience in technology and business trends relevant to storage and information management
  • Experience leading and building teams within a large-organization, ideally a software development organization
  • Ability to create messaging that highlights market and customer value as well as differentiation
  • Skilled and comfortable with presenting to a variety of audiences
  • Aptitude for big picture/strategic thinking and ability to translate into execution
  • Capability to make smart, simplifying assumptions when there are complicated details
  • Ability to Make objective decisions for product backlog prioritization
  • Skilled at adapting to a fast-paced and quickly changing environment, multi-tasking and managing competing priorities with multiple deadlines
