JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

THE DIRECTOR OF PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT WILL REPORT TO THE EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT.  THIS ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHOLESALE PRICE AND RETAIL POSITION MANAGEMENT FOR REGIONAL POWER EXPOSURE.  DEVELOP INTO SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT IN SPECIFIC REGIONAL MARKET.  CAPTURE COMPLETE RETAIL GROSS MARGIN AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL PROFIT OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN REGIONAL TERM AND CASH MARKETS.   IDENTIFY AND ASSIST IN CREATING NEW OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN REGIONAL WHOLESALE AND RETAIL POWER MARKETS.  STUDY AND IDENTIFY FUNDAMENTAL AND REGULATORY CHANGES WHICH AFFECT WHOLESALE AND RETAIL POWER MARKETS.  THIS IS A VERY CROSS FUNCTIONAL AND CROSS REGIONAL POSITION WHERE PJM EXPERIENCE IS A SUBSTANTIAL REQUIREMENT.   THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MULTIPLE BOOK MANAGEMENT AND BE WILLING TO BE CROSS REGIONAL TO ASSIST IN POSITION EXPOSURE AND REPORTING.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

•    EXECUTE TRADING HEDGES WITH ALL WHOLESALE INTERMEDIARIES
•    PROFITABLY COVER OPEN RISK EXPOSURES WITH APPROVED RISK MANAGEMENT TOOLS
•    UNDERSTAND RISK BOOK STRUCTURE AND EXECUTE IBTS FOR REPORTING AND PERFORMANCE
     BENCHMARKING
•    INTERFACE WITH RISK MANAGEMENT, SALES AND MASS MARKET GROUPS TO DISCUSS HEDGING
     STRATEGIES AND FUNDAMENTALS
•    WORK WITH MARKET ANALYTICS TO BUILD TOOLS/REPORTS TO EXPLAIN/UNCOVER RISK AND PRESENT
     OPPORTUNITIES  
•    PROVIDE MARKET COMMENTARY AND INSIGHT – AS NEEDED, ASSIST WITH SALES PRESENTATIONS AND
     CUSTOMER INTERACTIONS
•    ASSIST REGIONAL PRICE CURVE CREATION
•    PRICE WHOLESALE EXPOSURE TO RETAIL CONTRACTS


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

•    STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF US POWER MARKETS– SPECIFICALLY PJM
•    STRONG KNOWLEDGE IN SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS WITHIN PJM
•    STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF PRICE FORMATION AND DISTRIBUTION
•    STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF RISK MANAGEMENT INSTRUMENTS – INCLUDING SWAPS, OPTIONS AND
     FORWARD CONTRACTS
•    STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF PHYSICAL AND FINANCIAL TRADING AND SETTLEMENT
•    UNDERSTANDING RETAIL PRICING MODELS – INCLUDING PRICING COMPONENTS
•    ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND, EXECUTE AND CREATE PROFITABLE TRADING AND RISK MANAGEMENT
     STRATEGIES
•    CREATIVE AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
•    STRONG KNOWLEDGE IN MS OFFICE – SPECIFICALLY EXCEL
•    EXCEPTIONAL ADHERENCE TO A CULTURE OF COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY
•    KNOWLEDGE OF NATURAL GAS MARKETS A PLUS


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

•    4+ YEARS EXPERIENCE IN A TRADING/COMMERCIAL ROLE, SETTLEMENT OR RISK MANAGEMENT CAPACITY
•    BACHELOR DEGREE
•    MASTER OR ADVANCED DEGREE (OR IN PROCESS) PREFERRED
