Summary: The Database developer must be proficient in SQL and must establish a deep familiarity with the client database and a solid understanding of the data model. They will collaborate with clients and administrators and provide technical support, write custom queries to support analysis and assist with identifying new requirements.  The Database developer is responsible for working closely with developers to ensure system consistency and will also develop, test, improve and maintain new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively.  Ultimately, the Database developer will be available to run ad hoc reporting and assist the client in querying the database, according to their needs. 

Communication and organization skills are keys for this position, along with a problem-solution attitude and a high attention to detail.  This is a “hands-on” position requires solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Education: Bachelors Degree or higher in a business or technical discipline 

Required Years of Experience: 5 years, or 5 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education 

Responsibilities: 

• Create SQL queries to provide analysis reporting data for monitoring and performance statistics
• Optimize and maintain legacy systems 
• Modify databases according to requests and perform tests 
• Solve database usage issues and malfunctions 
• Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices 
• Gather user requirements and identify new features 
• Provide data management support to users 
• Ensure all database programs meet VA and performance requirements 
• Collaborate with Documentation Specialists to develop technical and training manuals 
• If needed, design stable, reliable and effective databases

• Familiarity working with MS SQL and .Net Framework

• CMMI Maturity Level 3, ISO 9001:2015 or 9001:2001, and ITIL experience a plus
