Base Salary Range: $57,000 - $75,000 USD

Location:  Kansas City

Physical Requirements:  Professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Employee is regularly required to hear and speak, stand, walk, use hands to touch or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Data Visualization Analyst that has the ability to tell a strategic story through data visualizations and dashboards. The BI team focuses on automating manual reporting processes, delivering actionable insights for our internal business stakeholders to make strategic and tactical decisions, as well as delivering enterprise-level reporting for external clients. We are seeking someone with strong communication and presentation skills that is driven by curiosity, energized by problem solving, and is captivated with continued learning in the data analytics and visualization community.

•    Establish and cultivate trust with internal and external stakeholders, listen and ask questions to understand the business needs, document reporting requirements, and actively participate in defining and implementing measurement plans
•    Make sure that stakeholders’ needs are met as projects evolve, keeping all stakeholders updated on the project status, managing and adjusting expectations as needed
•    Conceptualize and execute data visualization projects from beginning to end, including designing wireframes and mock-up visuals, planning the data structure needed through data mockups, as well as developing intuitive, interactive and actionable dashboards
•    Understand and document the meaning behind the data to accurately leverage the data for business decision making
•    Deliver dashboards and presentations with concise clear communication that includes insightful, impactful and actionable items
•    Collaborate with other members of the BI team to streamline and/or automate processes to ensure data lineage, consistency, integrity and transparency, as well as to coordinate work efforts on a daily basis
•    Utilize software (Atlassian suite, Git, and other internal tools) to track project workflow and changes
•    Ensure standards are met through conducting quality assurance tests against the data and the requirements
•    Accountable for handling multiple projects and managing to deadlines 
•    Understand and document the meaning behind the data to accurately leverage the data for business decision making

•    Ability to effectively communicate complex information to people with diverse levels of data literacy or comfort with data
•    Ability to identify, pull, join and manipulate data
•    Ability to distill a large volume of data into easy-to-read dashboards with actionable outcomes
•    Ability to create presentations and distill complex information into a compelling story
•   Strong project management abilities and attention to detail

 Qualifications

•    3-5 years of experience in Data, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence with experience in collecting, interpreting and analyzing data, as well as developing data visualizations
•    High-energy, self-starter with strong business ethic
•    Experience working with internal and external customers to document reporting requirements
•    Sophisticated experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau), experience with joining data sources, writing custom calculations, creating interactive dashboard actions and using parameters
•    Demonstrated critical thinking skills with an innovative, data-driven mindset
•    Effective communication skills in various forms, written, spoken and formal presentations
•    Stays current on data and visualization best practices in design and software
•    Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•    Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing and focusing on responsibilities
•    Ability to adapt in a positive manner to changing priorities and to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
•    Any ability to write SQL queries, with experience using query functions in a relational database is a plus (Amazon Redshift, MS SQL Server)
•   Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
