      <title><![CDATA[Legal Operations Specialist - Arlington, VA]]></title>

      <description><![CDATA[Position Overview: The Legal Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting compliance-related initiatives, including political law compliance, monitoring and tracking developments related to legal affairs, coordinating internal legal operations processes, and assisting with the implementation of association policies and procedures, as well as supporting the legal affairs team in day-to-day functions. 


Key areas of responsibility:


Legal Affairs Support  




Provide administrative and operational support on legal matters and projects  






Track deadlines, filings, and compliance requirements, such as annual reporting requirements  






Support legal research needs 






Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders  




 
Political Law & Compliance  




Monitor and track state lobbying activity and political contributions, including political action committee activity and state/federal giving  






Support compliance on state and federal lobbying, campaign finance laws, and reporting requirements and assist with reports 






Maintain accurate records of political expenditures and contributions through in-house tracker 






Stay informed of relevant regulatory changes regarding political law especially as to nonprofits and ensure organizational adherence  




 




Digital File Management  




Organize, maintain, and update contracts and other legal documents and records within digital filing systems  






Ensure accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with document retention policies  






Implement and improve file organization systems for efficiency and scalability  




 
Invoice Processing & Financial Coordination  




Assist in preparing, reviewing, and sending invoices related to legal services  






Maintain invoice tracking systems and ensure timely submission and payment  






Review and code invoices in accordance with internal financial procedures and compliance requirements  






Collaborate with public affairs, finance and legal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure operational efficiencies 





Requirements:
Experience & Education:  




Bachelor&rsquo;s degree  






Minium 3 years of experience in legal operations, administration, and/or compliance roles  






Preferred:Experience with political law, campaign finance regulations, or PACs; experience with invoice management, billing systems, or financial coordination a plus; compliance  




 
Skills & Competencies:  




Strong organizational and time management skills  






High attention to detail and accuracy  






Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information  






Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or legal management software  






Familiarity with document management systems and digital filing tools  






Analytical thinking with strong problem-solving abilities  








Excellent written and verbal communication skills  






Ability to multitask and prioritize work 






Flexibility in learning new software and/or computer/technical applications 






A self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 




 


Preferred Attributes: 




Experience working in a law firm, corporate legal department, government affairs consultancy, government agency or political organization  






Knowledge of Federal Election Commission regulations and state-level campaign finance laws  




 
Salary Range: $80-$100K
The compensation range shared reflects the full salary band approved for the role in compliance with pay transparency guidelines. Final offer placement within that range is determined by several factors, including depth and relevance of experience, industry background, technical or functional expertise, education/certifications, internal equity considerations, geographic market data, and overall alignment with the scope of the position.

      <description><![CDATA[Position Overview:   


The Accounting and Administrative Coordinator is responsible for providing accounting and administrative operations support within the CBA Finance and Operations team, focusing on the accounting and administrative tasks of the Public Affairs department. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Operations, the coordinator will assist in reconciliation of accounts, processing invoices, assisting with departmental budgets and serving as a liaison between the finance and operations team and the public affairs team in day-to-day accounting and administrative operations functions. 


Key areas of responsibility: 


Accounting Support 




Create and send approved revenue invoices within AMS system; update AMS accordingly when payment is received. 






Assist finance and operations in developing internal controls policies and procedures  






Assist in aligning internal chart of accounts to the evolving budget reporting format  






Assist in the creation and finalizing of the enterprise-wide budget and financial reports 






Assist finance and operations team with reconciliation of records to ensure smooth transition to the new systems. 






When required outside of monthly reporting by finance department, maintaining record of campaign expenses and budget 




Administrative Support 




Track uncollected campaign revenue and manage associated correspondence 






Maintain separate records regarding revenue payments and account statuses 






Manage correspondence with vendors and input expense invoices into AP system for review and approval.  






Respond to administrative vendor inquiries  








Prepare regular status reports to be shared with stakeholders 






Assist in data input and the verification of data records to ensure integrity of accounting and financial data 






Providing administrative support to all employees in their day-to-day credit cards, expense reports and queries as it applies to Bill / Divvy system.  






Provide administrative support for accounting tasks, including bank reconciliations 






Support the finance and operations team in the transition of the HR / Payroll / Benefits system from PEO to in-house with the new vendor  




 


Experience & Education:  




Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting and finance or equivalent combination of education and experience. 






3 - 5 years of professional experience  






Non-profit and/or trade association experience a plus  




 


Skills:  




Advanced proficiency in Office 365 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 






Experience with data entry - AMS and AP system software preferred (Bill.com, Divvy / Expense) 






Experience with accounting system (Sage Intacct is preferred and payroll) 






Strong analytical skillsand data management skills 






Attention to detail 








Solid interpersonal skills 






Ability to multitask and prioritize work 






Flexibility in learning new software and/or computer/technical applications

      <description><![CDATA[Position Overview: The Senior Vice President, Federal Affairs has critical responsibilities in advocating for and elevating the consumer packaged goods industry with Congress and the administration. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Public Affairs, this role leads all federal lobbying functions of the organization and will lead the executional elements related to federal issue priorities, strategic initiatives and policy campaigns. The position also is an organization subject matter expert on policy issues relating to nutrition, ingredient safety, consumer transparency, and chemicals management. 


 


Key areas of responsibility:




Manage Consumer Brands&rsquo; policy and advocacy agenda including all federal strategic and tactical functions to support our short and long-term priorities and campaigns. 






Partner with Legal and Regulatory and Technical Affairs to advance CBA&rsquo;s integrated advocacy agenda. 






Drive Consumer Brands&rsquo; Congressional champion development efforts and lobbying on Capitol Hill. 






Maintain, build and leverage relationships with key administration officials (White House, FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.) 






Serve as a leading industry spokesperson, issue expert and thought leader on policy issues relating to nutrition, ingredient safety, consumer transparency, and chemicals management on behalf of the association/industry in media interviews, external events and other communications forums.  






In coordination with communications and regulatory teams, develop leading-edge narratives to advance CPG industry priorities.  






Oversee key internal member communities, including the Food and Beverage Strategy Group, Household and Personal Care Strategy Group, Federal Affairs committee and related exchanges, including soliciting executive engagement. 






Oversee and grow political action committee. 






Oversee the development and execution of related education, events and marketplace solutions.  






Manage consultants and vendors providing federal affairs services to the association. 






Lead a team with a focus on collaboration, professional growth and development, accountability for results, strong morale and retention. 




 




Experience & Education:




A minimum of a BA/BS degree is required. An advanced degree such as an MS is a plus. 






12-15 years of work experience required, preferably in the legislative and/or executive branch. 






Consumer packaged goods industry experience and policy expertise on nutrition, ingredient safety, consumer transparency and chemicals management is preferred. 






A track record of demonstrated results in government, association and/or political environments. 






Skills:




Expert understanding of legislative and regulatory processes and proven ability to influence policy through strong relationships with Congress, federal agencies, and industry stakeholders. 






Ability to interpret complex policy and translate it into business impact. 






Experience designing and executing federal policy strategies, campaigns, and coalition efforts aligned to organizational goals. 






Ability to be productive and drive results in the face of ambiguity. 






Superior interpersonal and written communication skills. 






Strong public speaking skills with the executive presence to effectively engage association Board members, represent the organization in media settings, and serve as a spokesperson at industry forums and events. 






Results-oriented leadership, including ability to drive consensus and achieve member alignment and the management and mentorship of high-performing advocacy team. 






Team player who thrives in a high-energy, multitasking and collaborative work environment.
