Job Description Summary

The Director of Sales is responsible for managing strategic customer accounts specifically in CA but also at a national level, maximizing all opportunities for sales to achieve P&L goals determined by Management Team. This position will be responsible for marketing MP2/Shell conventional power products and renewables solutions.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Through client acquisition and servicing clients, this role serves as the liaison between MP2/Shell and the retail customer
  • Support company’s growth by originating leads, closing sales, supporting existing clients, formulating sales strategies and communicating product value to clients
  • Execute origination strategy for securing conventional power products and renewables sales
  • Achieve sales goals determined by Management Team.
  • Work in conjunction with MP2/Shell leadership in defining and executing full product solution packages with Shell Energy customers, prospects, vendors, and partners
  • Review, evaluate, prepare, and respond to requests for bids and RFPs
  • Develop and present MP2 marketing materials to clients or in industry events, forums and conferences
  • Assess customers’ needs and present solutions to C-Suite prospects that include the full product and service offering of retail power, demand response, solar (rooftop, off site renewables, etc.) onsite generation, and energy efficiency
  • Point person in pre-deal contract negotiations. Manage changes and resolve special contract issues for large customer accounts during the term of an agreement
  • Responsible for coordinating with Sales Support, Pricing, Credit, Trading, legal, and other internal teams
  • Coordinate with internal departments in the resolution of retail business issues as required

 

Competencies & Attributes for Success in this Role:

  • In depth knowledge of the power and renewable energy market dynamics, wholesale and retail products and related component breakdown
  • Experience in selling and working knowledge of energy related services; i.e. wind, solar, onsite generation, demand response, energy efficiencies, etc.
  • Experience in US deregulated electricity markets including ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, and CAISO
  • Must be able to present integrative solutions to customers bringing all energy and energy related services together
  • Ability to stay current with market regulations, emerging technologies and market trends in the US power & renewables markets
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, analytical and time management skills
  • Must have a commercial mindset, be a problem solver and able to articulate thoughts and concepts well
  • Demonstrate ability to negotiate terms & conditions of energy and energy related services contracts
  • Ability to think strategically as well as understand the practical, day-to-day implementation requirements for successful completion
  • Strong industry network in the power and/or renewable energy sectors
  • Conflict management and resolution
  • Flexible, creative, and able to adapt to new circumstances

Requirements:

  • 5 -10 years in retail sales specific to California Direct Access market; all other deregulated markets
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook and strong Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
  • Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge
  • Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving and follow-up skills
