Phlebotomist Travel Job:

U.S. Nursing is seeking experienced and self-motivated travel Phlebotomists for a potential strike in the fall.

Phlebotomist Qualifications:

  • One of the following certifications:
    • Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) endorsed by ASCP
    • Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT) endorsed by AMT
    • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) endorsed by ACA, NHA or NPA
    • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE) 
  • Active BLS
  • Two years of recent experience as phlebotomist, within the past two years.
  • High School diploma or GED and formal training and completion of course work from an accredited school required.

In addition you must:

  • Commit to a full 9 days away from home, one U.S. Nursing receives the official 10-days notice.
  • Be available to work ANY shift. U.S. Nursing does not guarantee shift placement.
  • Hand-carry your complete file.
  • Not be CURRENTLY WORKING or IN PROCESS for any Fastaff assignment.

 

Phlebotomist Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Draw blood from patients and blood donors through venipuncture or dermal puncture. Make decisions about how to obtain blood specimen depending on the age of the patient, amount of blood needed, and risks associated with the procedure. 
  • Verify patients’ or donors’ identity to ensure proper labeling of the specimen. 
  • Clearly and accurately label the specimen for processing and testing, and ensure appropriate chain of custody within specimen transfer. 
  • Assess specimen quality for hemolysis, QNS (insufficient quantity), clotting, or incorrect specimen type. 
  • Store specimens properly with special attention to temperature, light, time in storage, and shipping methods. 
  • Assemble and maintain medical instruments such as needles, syringes, test tubes, anticoagulants, tourniquets and blood vials, and sterilize or dispose of contaminated equipment.
