Summary: experienced with defense and military health EMR — analyzes all phases of the EMR system development life cycle, although to varying degrees. Under the direction of the senior system integration staff members, the EMR-IT System Analyst examines systems to establish data mapping plans and methods which enable the sharing of data between databases and/or across applications and systems. The EMR-IT System Analyst assists in reviews and development of EMR-IT policies, regulations, and governance development of acquisition and use of client’s integration and interface requirements, the design and/or coordination of solution sets supporting such, the setup, coding, testing, implementation and evaluation for all EHR interface/integration components, including hardware, software, monitoring tools, etc. S/he assists in the development of procedures and obtains solutions for a variety of business integration challenges. S/he integrates components internal and external to the EMR environment. The EMR-IT Analyst validates conversion of requirements and procedures into the necessary applications, programs and code required to ensure smooth system integration. The EMR-IT Analyst reviews and validates external interface code; as well as contributes to the library of detailed interface and integration technical documents. The EMR-IT demonstrates domain expertise by creating the successful build and maintenance of the EHR integration environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analysis and Design
- Participates in organizational and other party technical teams to analyze current integration needs and interfaces
- Meets with internal/external clients, EMR stakeholders, technology personnel and stakeholder staff to determine and define specific analytical and technical systems information requirements, objectives and solution sets for complex application and/or systems enhancements and/or replacements
- Analyzes problems of low to medium complexity related to integrated systems. Analyzes problem relationships between systems/applications
- Creates and maintains project plans, issue logs, etc. in accordance with defined standards
- Develops simple to moderately complex data models and schema that describe processes and data flows related to systems high in complexity and data flow relationships between integrated systems
- Coordinates with project team members
- Makes recommendations for improvement of operations or processes
- Ability to identify and resolve interface issues between systems of two or more different stakeholders
- Identifies opportunities and threats and provides associated recommendations to program manager
- Develops data translation routines and methods utilizing standard languages, querying and database tools
- Performs root cause analyses to determine and correct issues
Experience/Education
- BS or BA Degree in Computer Science or Engineering Sciences required or 6 years or more years of officer or senior non-commissioned officer in the Medical Service Corps with the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, or Defense Health Agency
- Experience with military medical IT analysis with military EMR exposure
- Familiarity with IT military medical background
